I’ll be producinga one minute longtitle sequence suitable fora
movie.
SynopsisofIdea (content,
narrative,genre)
Afterlookingintoandresearchinga varietyof movie genres and
the title sequencesthataccompanythem, Icame to the decision
that my final product wouldbe fora comingof age familydrama.
Thisis solelybecauseIwantedtogo againstchoosinga
conventional genreandtrysomethingdifferent- Ifoundthatmy
ideaswere verysimilartoexistingsequenceswhenlookingat
horrors andcomedies.Myinitial thinkingisthatthe product
wouldbe usedfora movie thatcentres arounda setof parents
and theirchildrenwhilstexploringfamilylife andthe dailybattles-
disputes,dating,alcohol,school,chores,caring,love etc.
Therefore thisiswhatI’maimingtoreflect;itneedstobe a
representationof everythingfamilylifeisabout.The sequence
will be a minute longandconsistsof shortclose upshots of
objectsrelatedtohome- teddyonabed,fire place,toys, post,
butteredtoast,mumplayingwithchild’shands,handholdingmug
etc. The transitionbetweeneachshot will be cuteditswhilstthe
actual shotswill eitherbe still orshortpans.The lightingwill come
fromnatural sourcessuchas the sunlightandlampsinorder to
provide awholesome feel. Althoughthe sequence isforacoming
of age drama aboutfamily battles,atthe endof the daywe all
have a lovinghome togo too and that’swhatI want the sequence
to convey;the objectsI’ve chosentouse are what I associate with
and believe make myownhome the comfortingplace itis. The
songappearingoverthe top will be ‘home’byGabrielle Aplin asI
believeIbelieve the lyricscapture everythingIwantthe sequence
to stimulate. Whilstthe purpose of asequence istobothsignal
the start of the movie and setthe mood,it alsoprovides
acknowledgementtoall involvedinthe productionof it.
Therefore the creditsthatwill appearare one of the most
importantelementsof the sequence- theyneedtobe visually
stimulatinginordertograb the audience’sattentionwhilstalso
settingthe tone of the movie.In orderto follow withthe ‘home’
theme I’ll be usingachalkboard style fontsimilartothatof a
shoppinglistinthe kitchen.

Due to the nature of the sequence andthe genre of movie itwill
be representing,demographicallymytargetaudience willbe
anyone betweenthe C1to D bandon the social scale- specifically
workingclasspeople.Thisisbasedonresearchfromshowswith
similarthemessuchasmodernfamily,the fostersandthe
middles- ABCviewingfigures.
How will your project meet the
needs of your target audience?
Basedon my ownprimaryresearch,audiencesaskthatthe title
sequencesbe shorterandofferaninsightintowhatthe movie is
goingto be about.This issomethingthatIaim to achieve by
reflectingthe valueswithinthe title sequence,it’ll providean
understandingof the core ethicsandtheme.

Whatproductiontechniques
will you use to realise your
project?
Pre-productionisone of the mostimportantelementsinensuring
my projectwill come together;inordertoaid myself throughthe
process, I createda projectschedule thatgivesme anoutline of
whattasks I’ll carryingouton a weeklybasis- I’llbe updatingthis
alongthe way. Carrying outsecondaryresearch,allowedme to
getan indepthknowledge of moviegenresandthey’re
conventions,whichwillaidme increatingthe rightstyle of title
sequence,whilstprimaryresearchgave me anunderstandingof
whatpeople like andexpectfromsequences. The nextstage was
ideasgeneration-thisallowedme tosetoutall my ideasona
moodboardandmindmap before comingtothe decisiontocarry
out thisidea. Now thatI’ve finalisedmyinitialidea,I’llbe creating
a throughstoryboardto aid me infilming. The firststagesof
productionwill be the filmingprocess- capturingall the footage
that I’ll require inordertocreate the sequence.Thiswill be done
witha NikonD3100 andthe use of a tripod.Before Ican begin
editingfootage,Ineedtosortthroughit,delete uselessshotsand
stabilize anyfootage thatrequiresitthroughadobe aftereffects.
Once thishas beendoI can importthe footage intoadobe
premiere pro.Inorderto make the processeasier,I’ll be placing
my chosenfootage withinthe workplace inthe correctorder,
before trimmingit downtothe lengthIwant; thiswill be my
rougheditthat’ll guide me inproducingthe final sequence. Once I
have thisI can beginapplyingthe creditsand anyeffectsthatmay
be required- althoughIhave nointentionsof applyingeffectsat
the momentI wantthe lightingtoprovide awholesome feel,if
thisisnot achievedit’somethingthatIcan lookat editing.
