2. Generate CSR on cPanel
CSR (certificate signing request) generation on cPanel consists of two parts namely: Private Key
generation and CSR generation. Let us look upon both Private Key and CSR generation stepwise:

Login your cPanel and Locate SSL/TLS Manager in Security section as seen picture bellow:

3. Click on Generate, view, upload, or delete your Private keys.

4. You will find Host text box to enter domain name for which you want to take certificate or drop
down menu to select domain name and click on Generate Button, as seen picture bellow:

5. Step 2: Return on SSL/TLS Manage page and click on Generate, view, or delete SSL certificate
signing requests (CSR).

6. After CSR form page is loaded, you need to enter following details.
Host – Choose the domain name from the drop-down menu.
Country – Enter two-digit country code.
State – Enter two-digit state abbreviation.
City – Enter city name.
Company Division – enter Company’s division.
Email – Enter email address.
Pass Phrase – Enter any phrase you want to use for the pass phrase.
Click on the Generate button.
Now, CSR (.csr) has been generated using cPanel. Follow the next step to install SSL
Certificate on cPanel, Which we will discuss in next slide.

7. ➢ Once you generated Private Key and CSR file, Save it on your server and apply for SSL
certificate issuance. You can submit necessary documents as per CA’s validation process
requirement.
➢ You will receive SSL Certificate (.crt) on your generic Email ID in zip file, and Download
the zip file, copy the content of certificate file into a notepad or text file, and save it as
youdomain.crt. Please copy content including —–BEGIN CERTIFICATE—– and —–END
CERTIFICATE—–.

Step 1: Click on Generate, view, upload or delete SSL Certificates under SSL/TLS
Manager >> Security option:

9. SSL Certificate Installation on cPanel
● It is time to import certificate. You can follow any of two methods.
Under ‘Upload a New Certificate’ section, copy and paste the yourdomain.crt
file into the box namely Paste the crt below.
Else, you can click on Browse button and find yourdomain.crt, click Upload
button.
● Now, click on Go Back option.
● Now, scroll down to the end of the page and click on Return to SSL/TLS Manager.
● Click on Install and Manage SSL Certificate for your site (HTTPS).
● Choose the domain from drop down menu and the cPanel will fetch SSL certificate and
private key for you. Else, you can copy and paste content of CA bundle file (As seen
picture in Next Slide..)
● SSL certificate installed on Server and assigned to your domain, once you click on install
certificate button.

11. Test SSL Certificate Installation
➔ You can verify SSL certificate is successfully installed on cPanel and Access your site
using by specifying the https:// instead of the http:// protocol with SSL installation checker
tools that will show you Certificate Details including common name, certificate issuer
name, key pair, signature, validation type etc.
➔ If certificate installed successfully, your browser may doesn’t show warnings including (the
"https" crossed out in the address bar or a broken or crossed out "lock" icon)
➔ If you click on the lock icon, you can see some more information about the SSL
connection.
