utilized for Cannabis cultivation, Satellite
Services will be roped in to keep a tab on
such activities.
3. Odisha State Government has decided to
capture maximum areas covered under illegal
cultivation of cannabis through Satellite
Imagery, so that authentic data will be
available for taking up enforcement and
destruction.

to gather more inside information about such

on the illegal mining in the State.
8. ORSAC efforts in this regard has been
appreciated and yielded results in focusing
areas where illegal mining were taken up.

Angul, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Boudh,
Kandhamal, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri
and Nayagarh areas are utilized for cannabis
cultivation and there are reports that more
areas are covered in these areas.

is needed to be verified at the field level.

cultivation and going for cannabis coverage

19. It has been decided to make effective the
Multi Disciplinary Squads (MDS)s at district
level, so that the MDS will take proactive
steps to curb such activities and go for
effective Excise Enforcement.
20. Officials say due to MDS efforts 4700 cases
have been detected and 3959 persons have
been arrested due to enforcement action in
several districts.
