top rustlers keeps growing. The neighboring villagers who are often bitten, stolen-from
and bothered while working on the fields catch-hold of them, put them in jute sacks
and then release them in town areas. These monkeys find less-labor in living off the
wasteful & aplenty town-land and hence stay-put. This is a pan – Uttar Pradesh issue
and parts of Andhra & others states are also affected. Hence a large-scale opportunity
for brands to differentiate.
Business Opportunities for (1) Water Tanks, (2) Dish-Operators, (3) Solar Panel Fixers
etc; “Monkey-proof” as a product-level differentiation.
Approximately 10,000 rupees per at least 2 thousand households – Gawan, Sambal
district, Uttar Pradesh has already spend lakhs on the same. The rise of need for Dish
TV & Solar panels is going to only increase this business. Monkey-proof grills etc; or
even Dish brands & Solar panel brands which offer protection equipment along with
the core-gear will ne differentiated.
Symtex/ganga (other water tank brands): Can actually develop a tough-to-open
tops, with spikes or slippery surfaces and maybe even sounds which warn them off
(without hurting them). A quick dipstick shows us that the consumer is keen to pick
such an offering over others and also ready to pay a 15% premium.
