The document discusses two library programs that utilize new media technologies for children and teens. The first section describes a blogging program at the Mission Viejo Library that engaged 55 teen bloggers who wrote 300 blog posts that received 12,000 page views and 100 followers. The bloggers gained experience and confidence in writing and felt more connected to the library. The second section discusses a program at the Dixon Public Library that incorporated iPads into storytime and found they increased parental engagement by allowing interactive book apps. Parents were surprised and pleased the small town library offered such technologies.

Who would have thought that a little town like Dixon would
have something like this?
It's fabulous! It's the future.
They have iPads in the schools now too - this will help
with that.
I had Monster at the End of this Book when it was a Little
Golden Book. Now we have it on an app and
my little boy gets to interact with it and make things
happen. He's thrilled.
