Lansberry Elementary participated in the Texas Reads One Book program on Monday, April
27. Jason Garrett, head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, read the first chapter in ‘The world
according to Humphrey’ and videocast the reading to all schools who participated in the pro-
gram. LES students and several fathers of those students were in attendance during the as-
sembly.

Students at Lansberry Elementary piled into the cafeteria on Friday, April 24 to hear the final
reading count scores and to see if they made enough to watch Principal Brownlee get his hair
cut. Brownlee promised the students if they made 45,000 points he would cut off all his hair.

Students pitured above had the highest scores of their grade level in reading counts. They
include: Pre-Kinder student Christopher Fry had 32 points; Kindergarden students Skylar
Knight and Ayden DeBose tied with 74 points each; First grade student Kason Sandifer had
205 points; Second grade student Emma Smith had 330 points; third grade student Keaton
Corbin had 621 points; fourth grade student Candida Guzman had 594 points; and fifth grade
student Trenton Noonan had 627 points. The overall points for the entire elementery school
was 50,481. Great job Kids!

Brittany Cassidy,Assistant Principal of Lansberry Elementary, cut most of Principal Brownlee’s
hair. She had assistance from Mrs. Jones from Flair Beauty Salon, who took time to come to
the school and assist.

Students from Sam Houston State University came to the assembly and spoke to Lansberry’s
kids about Hero’s and their effect on youth. They explained how Hero’s can be anyone who
takes the time to make a difference in someone’s life.

Truston Thompson of Trinity high School participated in the Blood Drive held on Monday,
April 27. He and several other students donated blood during the drive that was sponsored by
Carter Blood Care.
