At the point of manufacture
Point of Use Gaging (POU) is an appli-
cation specific, hand applied, roughness
measuring solution for use in the produc-
tion environment.
POU systems are used to measure sur-
face finish using a Skidded or Skidless
Pick-up on Engine components such as:
• Engine Block
• Cylinder Head
• Crankshaft
• Connecting Rod
• Camshaft
In addition, they are also heavily used for
Transmission components like:
• Cases
• Housings
• Valve Bodies.
Measurement Simplified
Working with Point of Use Gages sim-
plifies many working processes. These
systems are easy to use and save a lot of
time in the process. It was designed for
measuring on the shop floor right at the
point of manufacture.
Furthermore it was produced to prevent
damage by using Auto-Retraction. The li-
mited operator influence leads to statisti-
cal repeatability. The servicing of the unit
can be accomplished in seconds due to
plug and play components (stylus, stylus
extensions, LV16, waveline 20).
It is possible to choose a System Interface
with Third Party Data Collection Stations
(CMZ).
In addition you can use a Hommel-
ETamic W55 or a Hommel-Etamic Multi-
Plexor with TURBO WAVE Software to
export to QS-Stat Output. The use of a
Multi-Plexor enables part programming
using operator guided sequencing.
Centralized Stations are available, as well
as Single and Multiple Operations.

When it comes to measuring the work
piece, Etamic CMZ32 Software can
perform up to 300 measurements,
on 32 separate parts, utilizing 32
different part sequences, with up to
200 separate probe inputs. Types of
measurements include: classification,
static, dynamic, all types of dimen-
sional measurements (I.D., O.D., etc)
as well as True Roundness and TRUE
Cylindricity.
SPC and Data Output
Etamic SPC32 Software has been designed to provide statistical process control
capabilities for measurement processes monitored by an Etamic CMZ200 in-
dustrial controller. The software can be set up to operate on a CMZ200 locally
and/or may be setup to run on another computer connected to the CMZ200
over a network. Multiple CMZ200 workstations may be connected to a single
SPC32 workstation, enabling several process streams to be monitored from a
centralized location. The CMZ32 software can also output measurement results
in Q-Das® or Infinity® formats.

ects is accomplished with the click of

larger parts require the use of innovative
part handling systems, as well as larger
granite plates, to handle the additional
weight and length of the part. T8000
Waveslide and T8000 Wavemove systems
have been designed specifically for lar-
