Paletino Linotype is based on the Old Style type-
face that was developed by the punchcutter
Francesco Griffo. He evolved his letterform from the
traditional Italian types. The Capitals were based off
of the Roman versions while the lowercase letters
were taken from fifteenth-century humanistic styles
taken from the Carolingian minuscules. Old Style
type puts an emphasis on weight stress on angles as
commonly seen in handwriting. The serifs are also
bracketed. Lowercase letters have top serifs that are
at an angle.
