Red Dead Redemption is an open world action adventure
western video game, obviously published and developed by
Rockstar. The game was released on the 18th of May, 2010,
and is a spiritual sequel to Red Dead Revolver which was
released in 2004.
The plot of the game involves former outlaw John Marston
waking up at a farmhouse finding a world gone insane: as
overnight deranged hordes have overrun the towns and
outposts of the American frontier. Marston must traverse a
world torn apart by chaos in an attempt to save his family,
using every key skill he has to survive long enough to find a
cure.
3. Target Audience
The target audience of the game is most
likely to be males under the age of 30;
which could be suggested with the
violent content of the game and the plot.
4. Promotion...
The game is promoted to the audience in a
number of ways:
• A trailer was obviously released, stating the plot of the game
and showing examples of the content
• A preorder where customers could vote for one of three
outfits for the character that could be unlocked in the game
• Several other bonus’s and additional content
5. Key Features...
The key features of the game include the fact it is an open world game, where
players can interact with the surroundings and engage in combat with
enemies using various firearms. Players can participate in random events
they come across in the West when exploring. The game also uses
morality system - where players can gain positive or negative ‘honor’ -
which works along with another system ‘fame’ – which shows and governs
how people react based on Marston’s honor status.
