- The area involved is a span between 50 and 100 miles out along the East and West Coasts. These areas are not areas where geological evidence would suggest a significant amount of oil is likely available. Waters within 50 miles of the coast should be off-limits. ***The area involved for California is the Tranquillon Ridge Area, off the coast of Lompoc (near Santa Barbara). Slant drilling would occur off of Platform Irene,there. It would have exchanged that for ending production off Irene by 2022 & off Point Arguello by 2017. (Pass around map w/ California’s OCS area.)
