8. VSI: Jurassic-Cretaceous Transition
Bispiraloconulus serbiacus gen. et sp. nov., a
giant arborescent benthic foraminifer
from the Berriasian of Serbia
Short communication: Felix
Schlagintweit, Ioan I. Bucur, Milan N.
Sudar, p. 98-106
Dual biozonation scheme (benthic
foraminifera and “calcareous” green
algae) over the Jurassic–Cretaceous
transition. Another plea to revert the
system boundary to its historical
Orbigny's and Oppel's definition
Research article: Bruno Granier, p. 245-

19. The question(s):
•When did the Jurassic end?
•When did the Cretaceous start?
Note:
We cannot question the positions of the Working Groups
but anybody having a different opinion will be given a voice here
in this open debate!
20. Of course, one still expects the system boundary
will coincide with a biological crisis!
26. … to other disciplinary groups and fields
GTS2012
27. Jürgen REMANE (1991)
“The choice of boundary level depends primarily on its
correlation potential.
This would put an end to fruitless discussions about whether
Berriasian faunas are Jurassic or Cretaceous.
(…)
Continuity of usage is another important factor.
For this reason the efforts of the International Working
Group on the Jurassic-Cretaceous Boundary have been
concentrated on the Tethysian-Boreal correlation of the
Tithonian-Berriasian boundary,
though so far with limited success.
Other levels should be tested in future.”
28. Jürgen REMANE (1991)
“Other levels should be tested in future”
Twenty-seven (27) years later, some people say:
“Other levels should be tested …
starting from today!”
