What is being requested
A growing variety of groups have been inquiring about the ability to establish
environments which contain hosted ----applications; standalone, integrated,
cloned and one offs. These systems are intended for use by persons outside
the -- network - including non employee, non-customer individuals. Most of
the applications have at least some web based functionality.
Who is asking?
1. Application Engineering
2. Integration Engineering
3. Application Education

What kinds of systems?
Highly varied hardware, operating systems, and back end support methods
•Intel based
–Hardware
RIS based systems
X86 based systems (including AMD variant)
–Operating systems
Windows
Linux
AIX
•HP based
–Tandem Non-Stop
•Numerous back Dbase models

Ideal Solution
Host all of the systems so they may be logically accessed via the simplest,
fastest and most efficacious methods consistent with the varied security
requirements which optimizes the efficiencies of scale and sharing of resources
and knowledge across the widest possible audience.
Reducing redundancies and wasted effort while maintaining compliance with the
needs and requirements of all the varied groups.
Facilitating the cross dependencies inherent in the types of systems being
requested to maximize the efforts of each support and development group
involved.
Strongly suggestive of a shared infrastructure and physical site – minimizing
potential network travel time and connectivity issues while concentrating the
infrastructure required to support the “non-standard” design.

1. Identify process owner
• Business unit(s) being served
• Skills required
• Existing knowledge base
• Availability of resources and bandwidth
2. Identify all potential “customers” for this service offering
• Potential new or added services that would fit the overall model
• Additional product groups not yet represented
• Additional functional areas that have not made requests
3. Gather detailed requirements for the service offering
• Distribute surveys
• Perform direct interviews
• Hold group meetings to compare needs
• Interpret expressed requirements in technical terms (TAD, TDD)
4. Set scope
5. Assign/acquire resources
6. Develop detailed plan
7. Gain approval and funding
8. Implement
9. Assess utilization and determine long term value/viability
