  18. 18 Wasted time getting the “perfect” resume, applying for jobs below skill level and work on interviewing skills Start earlier, knew role was in jeopardy but waited till laid off Ask real questions rather than scripted you “should ask” Rank opportunities and focus energy on “right” ones Taken better care of myself & realize I’m not the only one going through this and provide better support to my family

Meet people & network Expand search to things not considered, be open to opportunities Invest in self, maintain positive outlook, keep learning, use LinkedIn Continue to network and build it, disengage from negative people Don’t rush into your search, analyze what you want, seek help, compile documents Brand yourself, appear more relevant in today’s market, e.g. gmail.com, attire, avoid references to past, color gray/white hair
