1. The New York Times Highlights
BrightStar Care’s Seal of Approval
from the Joint Commission
2. We were recently thrilled to share that
BrightStar Care® had received The Joint Commission’s
Enterprise Champion for Quality award for 2013.
3. The Joint Commission, a nationally recognized healthcare quality
standards organization that also accredits hospitals and other
health care systems, acknowledged BrightStar Care’s efforts to
promote high quality health care services by its franchises
through Joint Commission accreditation.
4. Recently, the New York Times highlighted why a company would
look to a third party to help measure its commitment to quality
care.
5. Hoping to help consumers make those choices — and to help
themselves stand out in a competitive field — some home
health agencies are seeking voluntary accreditation by
independent organizations, Ann Carrns of the New York Times
wrote.
6. BrightStar’s Chief Clinical Quality Officer Sharon Roth Maguire
MS,RN, GNP-BC was featured, adding that “ we wanted some
measure of quality beyond our own internal measures. It’s
one thing to say we’re committed to quality, but another to
demonstrate it to another third party.”
7. BrightStar is one of two large home care operators recognized by
the Joint Commission for having at least 95 percent of its franchise
locations accredited.
The second is CareMinders, based near Atlanta.
To become accredited by the Joint Commission, an agency must
undergo detailed reviews and on-site visits, including direct
observation of patient caregiving, every three years.
