2. Today, I conducted my costume research for our film opening, by
looking at our two main characters and the stereotypical clothing
items in which they are most likely to wear.
This task helped us to consider what type of costumes we want
when filming our actual film opening. By doing further research into
this aspect of our film opening, we can now see that the potential
costume ideas discussed previously will work effectively within our
film opening.
3. Today, I researched into different types of genres used within thriller
openings in order to create enigma.
From researching this I now know that our enigma for our opening
will be by is there a corpse in the middle of an alleyway.
This task was successful as I now know my enigma for my opening
from looking at different genre types.
4. Today, I researched into the opening of Dexter and analysed the
key areas of it, such as Mise-En-Scene used within the opening.
I researched this in order to add to my knowledge and
understanding of Mise-En-Scene in film openings.
This task enabled me to think more in depth about the areas which
go into making a successful opening without focusing into the
character or background setting too much, yet still giving of a
successful and engaging effect on the audience.
5. Today, I planned our Mise-En-Scene for our opening in more depth.
Looking at every aspect of it.
I found lighting the most difficult aspect to analyse as for a thriller
opening the lighting is essential, otherwise we may not be able to
grip our target audience to our opening as it may not seem realistic
to them.
This task enabled me to further expand on our Mise-En-Scene brief
notes, which we spoke about while creating our pitch to present to
the rest of the class. By relating back to the pitch and further
developing our ideas, it has made me feel more confident with how
we want everything to be viewed by our audience, and how we
can go around doing this.
6. Today, I conducted our weather research.
Before we decide where to film and when. I went on to BBC
Weather to check that the weather would be appropriate and that
it wouldn’t be too dark or light for the setting that we needed.
This task helped me to consider what type of weather was needed
when filming our actual film opening. By doing further research into
this aspect of our film opening, we can now see that the time we
planned to film at was spot on, in order to create the lighting that
we are going for.
7. Today, I reflected upon our draft film opening and wrote about the
aspects in which I think we were successful in (What Went Well) and
the aspects which need more developing (Even Better If).
By doing this it will enable us to film more accurate in the up-coming
weeks, therefore we will be less likely to get another issue that will
need improving.
This task was beneficial as we can new improve upon issues in which
we feel need improving. Therefore, by highlighting the issues now
our final film opening will look professional and will fit our thriller
genre well.
