Pamphlet is one of the visual aid of health education through which health & disease related information and message can convey to the large population in easy way & short period. Though it is not appropriate for illiterate people, it is widely used method of health education for public awareness.
2. Introduction:
Pamphlets are visual media which are considered as
mass method of health education. A pamphlet gives short
description of different aspects of a specific topic. The
message can also be written in the form of poem or song or
dialogue.

3. Pamphlets can be produced in the forms of folder to convey
health message. It is only for literate people as they will read
it & understand the message that is intended to deliver.
Pamphlets should be pretested before producing them for
public use. A pamphlet should be as brief as possible & should
not exceed more than 4 pages.

12. Qualities of good Pamphlets:
Understandable language
Small enough i.e. not exceed more than 4 pages
Visible size of letter
Clear
Culturally accepted & digestible
Not ambiguous i.e. having one obvious meaning

13. Use of Pamphlets:
Pamphlets are distributed on the hand of the audience. They
are not for hanging or just throwing on the street.

14. Pamphlets can also be distributed to the learners of a training
group, to family members, mothers groups, campaign, in FP/MCH
clinic, hospital OPD, satellite clinic, PHC/ORC clinic, EPI/ORC etc.

15. Preparation of Pamphlets:
Select a suitable topic
Write the message in white paper
Type in computer or Typeshala
Subject expert should check once whether wrong or right. If
there is wrong typing, message should be corrected.
Print final copy & give to press for large scale production
The margin should be there
The size of letter of pamphlets should be visible
16. Advantages:
Helps in propagating message rapidly in mass scale through
wide distribution
Very easy to carry from place to place
The first reader can pass the read pamphlets to others
It covers the large number of people, place through wide
distribution for the purpose of propagation
Easy to prepare
Cost effective
People can read them at free time & understand the message
well
It can be kept safely to read again and again which helps
reminder of information etc.
17. Disadvantages:
Basically, it provides only one way communication
Not useful for illiterate people
There is no surety either the people have read the distributed
pamphlets and understood the information
Printing service may not be available everywhere especially
in remote or backward areas
18. Conclusion:
Pamphlets are visual aid of health education which gives
short information about a specific topic either in the form of
message, poem, song or dialogue. It is one of the widely used
method by Government of Nepal to convey health related
information on different health problems & diseases among
general population. It is an easy & cost effective method to
convey information among large population on short time.
