Destination City: Raising the Bar on GeoTourism in New Haven This program is an outgrowth of a comprehensive analysis of New Haven’s cultural assets guided by a mission “to promote, for the community and its visitors, understanding of and appreciation for the culturally-significant resources in the Elm City.” Home to the nation’s most prestigious graduate schools of music, art, and architecture it is hardly a surprise that the city is rich in the arts. New Haven is also an historic place with more than twenty nationally-significant cultural attractions and one of the most distinctive built environments for a city its size in America. Natural history, religious history, fabulous parks, restaurants and small niche businesses add New Haven to he short list of must-see destinations in Connecticut. Raising the bar means letting getting beyond the amazing star attractions and doing more to promote and breath life into the supporting cast of lesser known attractions.
