Public opinion can be influenced by public relations and the political media. Additionally,
mass media utilizes a wide variety of advertising techniques to get their message out and
change the minds of people. Since the 1950s, television has been the main medium for
molding public opinion.
In fluential forces on public opinion. Additionally, political socialization and behavioral
genetics In communications studies and political science, mass media are often seen as
sometimes explain public opinion.
Public opinion is the collective opinion on a specific topic or voting intention relevant to
society. It is the people's views on matters affecting them. The term originates from
France, and first appeared in the 17th century, though writers had identified the
importance of the opinion of the people long before this. Prior to the advent of mass
media, public fora such as coffee houses and gentlemen's clubs were used as exchanges
of opinion and some reputable locations had great influence.
Families provide a loving environment where children can flourish; and they help ensure
that cultural traditions and timeless values are passed on to future generations.… Strong
families play a critical role in developing the character of our Nation. They teach children
important standards of conduct such as accepting responsibility, respecting others, and
distinguishing the difference between right and wrong. By helping America's youth to grow
into mature, thoughtful, and caring citizens, families help make our communities and our
Nation safer and more civilized.
Differing Opinions on Gay and Lesbian Marriage
In a November 2003 survey by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press,
59% of Americans opposed allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry legally, and 51%
opposed legal agreements that provided gay and lesbian couples many of the legal rights
of marriage. People between ages twenty and thirty-five hovered just short of a 50% split
in supporting or opposing gay and lesbian marriage. After age thirty-five, however,
opposition to gay and lesbian marriage increased with age to a peak of nearly 90% among
seventy-year-olds.
Religious belief and practice contribute substantially to the formation of personal
moral criteria and sound moral judgment. Regular religious practice generally
inoculates individuals against a host of social problems, including suicide, drug abuse,
out-of-wedlock births, crime, and divorce.
Religious change can affect social cohesion, consumption trends and willingness to
pay for climate-change mitigation or adaptation initiatives. Our findings indicate that
religious affiliation relates to greenhouse gas emissions, energy use and gross domestic
product on a global scale.
Education creates awareness in the minds of individuals, a new sense of
responsibility, openness to change and progress, all of which are important
factors in the development of society.
Education plays an important role in molding the structure of a society. The role
of education as an agent of social change is widely recognized. The socialization of the
young generation and maintenance of proper social order is among one of the main
functions of education.
A higher social class is associated with high power, which in turn is linked with
a reduction of physical and environmental Quality of Life. Since upper-class
individuals typically have both, power and status.
According to Weber, the higher your socioeconomic status, the better your life
chances. For instance, upper and middle-class people have better access to many
institutions/services that improve quality of life, e.g. good quality healthcare,
education, housing, etc. than working-class people.
Culture offers an account of political behavior through shared worldviews
which make particular actions more or less likely. The crucial connection at work
is that of identification, which renders certain actions reasonable and removes
alternatives which on other grounds might be equally plausible.
