 Regulatory affairs is a profession developed from the desire of governments to protect public
health by controlling the safety and efficacy of products in areas including Pharmaceuticals
,Veterinary medicines, Pesticides and Cosmetics.
 Pharmacist work as regulatory pharmacist in both private and public sector. They act link
between the company and the local regulatory authorities on matters relating to the quality
safety and efficacy issues of the drugs.
23-11-2021 9
 Quality control involves testing units and determining if they are within the
specifications for the final product. The purpose of the testing is to determine
any needs for corrective actions in the manufacturing process. Good quality
control helps companies meet consumer demands for better products.
Taguchi Method:
 The Taguchi Method of quality control is another approach that emphasizes
the roles of research and development, product design, and product
development in reducing the occurrence of defects and failures in products.
The Taguchi Method considers design to be more important than the
manufacturing process in quality control and tries to eliminate variances in
production before they can occur.
The Role of Quality Control Inspectors:
 Quality control inspectors protect the consumer from defective products and
the company from damage to its reputation due to inferior manufacturing
processes. If the testing process reveals issues with the product, the inspector
can fix the problem himself, return the product for repairs, or tag the product
for rejection. When issues arise, the inspector notifies supervisors and works
with them to correct the problem.

 The role of a pharmacist has advanced significantly over the past twenty years
expanding from the customary dispensing function to utilizing extensive clinical
knowledge in numerous settings.
 Pharmacy graduates now have opportunities ranging from the traditional pathways
to unique niche areas such as health informatics, patient safety, public health, and
antibiotic stewardships.
 Among these opportunities, the pharmaceutical industry is a setting that allows for
pharmacists to use their expertise of drug knowledge to help patients and
consumers.
 According to the 2018 American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP)
graduating student survey, the pharmaceutical industry was among the top five
employment settings that students selected to go into after graduation.
 Within the pharmaceutical industry, an area that pharmacists may work in is
medical information. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requires
manufacturers to establish a medical information call center to answer drug
questions pertaining to the manufacturer's products from patients and healthcare
providers.
 The medical information specialists have similar job responsibilities but can also
include updating or writing medical letters.
