2. Oceania – Art work
BA Tex'le CraBs – Final Collec'on
Having carried out some visual research in London, at the London Aquarium and Natural History Museum, back at the studio I
experimented with different papers manipula'ng them using tex'le techniques to recreate the essence of the ocean.
3. Oceania – Paper Designs
BA Tex'le CraBs – Final Collec'on
Thinking more commercially I produced a collec'on of hand painted designs which would be suitable for use as either wall paper or fabrics.
4. Oceania – Fashion Ideas
BA Tex'le CraBs – Final Collec'on
Selec'ng some of the techniques that I used in my sampling i started to produce garments, exploring how the effects could be
translated into fashion. Like all of my samples these garments were embroidered and manipulated in white fabric before being dyed.
They were then embellished with beads and sequins.
5. Oceania – Final Collection
BA Tex'le CraBs – Final Collec'on
Displayed almost as if each sample is floa'ng, my final collec'on of fabrics give the viewer the illusion that they are passing through a coral
reef. The colour combina'ons are muted , aged, warm; they originally created using natural dyes of Onions, Coffee, Tea. The details of
these samples can be easily translated into a range of commercial products suitable for both fashion and interiors.
7. The King and I
Teacher of Tex'les, Walton Girls’ High School, Grantham
I have always been interested in costume design. Whilst working as a teacher at a Secondary School with Performing Arts status I was
able to work with the Director of Music as the co-ordinator and producer of the costumes and set for the end of year produc'on of The
King and I.
17. We Will Rock You
Subject Leader for Tex'les, The Langley Academy, Slough
As Ar's'c Director I designed and made all the set and costumes for the Whole School Produc'on of We Will Rock You.
The Bohemian costumes were constructed from reconstructed garments brought from local charity shops. The GAGA Girls costumes
were hand made with Machine Embroidered GAGA logos which glowed in the dark. It was the first major produc'on performed at the
Academy and was a huge success.
18. Don’t Feed the Animals
Subject Leader for Tex'les, The Langley Academy, Slough
The Academy entered the annual compe''on ‘Connec'ons’
run by The Lyric, Hammersmith, with a performance of ‘Don’t
Feed the Animals’. As a story about a traveling circus the
challenge of the produc'on was turning our theatre into a
circus tent. This was achieved by hanging lengths of striped
fabric from the ligh'ng rigs and around the outside of the
theatre. Costumes for the clowns were brought online and
the UV animal costumes and paper dress were made by
myself.
