The water quality field has helped to nearly double the life span in the United States over the last century. In 1900, the average life span was approximately 45. In the year 2000, the average life span was approaching 80. This improved life span is attributed more to the work of professionals in the water industry than to advances in medicine. Twenty years from now, I want to be able to say that I helped eliminate clean water scarcity in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Ghana and other Sub-Saharan African countries.
