In the focus of the cooperation between the bank, through Santander Universitäten, and the university is a financial support concerning the set-up of an ´International Welcome Center´. “Additionally, Santander will support the establishment of an office for “International Marketing” at the university”, Pedro de Elejabeitia summarized essential contents of the agreement.

Pedro de Elejabeitia, board member of Santander Consumer Bank AG, and Volker Linneweber, president of “Universität des Saarlandes”, signed an agreement about a prospective collaboration in Saarbrücken. In the focus of the cooperation between the bank, through Santander Universitäten, and the university is a financial support concerning the set-up of an ´International Welcome Center´. “Additionally, Santander will support the establishment of an office for “International Marketing” at the university”, Pedro de Elejabeitia summarized essential contents of the agreement. Within the framework of an “internationalization strategy”, “Universität des Saarlandes” strives for an improvement of its welcome structure. The funds for the Welcome Center will be used for the next three years for personnel costs as well as marketing material to a small extent. “Next to shortly staying guest scientists, especially new foreign professors and postgraduates are supposed to profit from the new welcome center”, explained Linneweber. Furthermore, coordinated in an office for international marketing, “Universität des Saarlandes” will align its marketing activities more internationally and optimize them. Pedro de Elejabeitia: “We are pleased to enable “Universität des Saarlandes” to set up a Welcome Center and also to adapt its marketing activities to international standards.” This corresponded to the understanding and the philosophy of the bank to foster the process of the internationalization of universities sustainably. “I am convinced, that the new Welcome Center will contribute to the international attractiveness of the university as well as intensify the mutual exchange of young academics in the field of science and culture”, underlined Pedro de Elejabeitia. Santander supports the project on behalf of “Santander Universitäten”, part of the global corporate area “Santander Universidades”.
