The document discusses the rationale for choosing certain equipment for an AS production. Specifically, it chose the Canon 700 camera for its spectacular focus and ability to provide various effective shots and angles. This allows footage to be imported straight from the SD card during editing, providing a less complicated process than the Sony ZX1 used previously. A Zoom Sound Box was also selected, which is attached to the camera to provide clearer sound files. Like the Canon 700, it saves files via SD card, making it easy to match sound with camera files during editing.
2. CANON 700
Last year, for our AS production work, we were fairly limited
with choice of equipment. We had to use the Sony ZX1 which
provided us with a number of pro’s and cons. However, unlike
last year, we have decided to go ahead and use the Canon 700
this year as it is one of the only cameras accessible that has a
spectacular focus and provides a vast of effective shots and
angles. Last year, using the Sony ZX1 was not easy for me as an
Editor as it was a long process to log and capture the footage.
However, using the Canon 700 this time means that I will be able
to import my footage straight from the SD card on to the new
developed mac pro laptops, providing me with a less complicated
editing process as the Canon 700 saves footage via separate clips
rather than one large sequence .
3. Zoom Sound Box
The Zoom Sound Box, is another piece of equipment in which we have never
used before. The Zoom sound box is attached to the camera, providing
much clearer sound files for our media product. An advantage of using the
sound box is that, similar to the canon 700, it saves its files via using an SD
card, making it easy for us to match the sound with the camera files when
editing on final cut pro. This gives me, as the editor, an easier editing
experience due to having the files allocated in the correct coordination.
