Photography Schools
1. Finding your niche in photography and selecting the right camera
Photography is one of those skills that few people possess. It is one thing to be able to take a
photograph but then it is something totally different to be able to do is consistently. Many are
the people who have created impressive careers as photographers in various niches. So before
you start attending photography classes it is important to discover what it is that you really are
interested in. There are some photographers who focus on one line of photography while
others do many at once. There are photography workshops for just about all forms of
photography.
Finding your niche
It is possible to find your niche well after you have started your photography career. You can go
to the classes and learn but then find your niche long after you are through with the classes.
There are people who have changed their niches after several years in their careers. Although
this is not advisable it is still alright. The main objective is to make sure that you are as
comfortable as possible with what you are doing.
The thing about photography is that it is an art. As such any photographer should enjoy doing
what they do. It is fun being a photographer but at the same time it is important to make sure
that you are capturing awesome images. The first thing that you can do in order to find your
niche is learn what you enjoy doing most. There are people who love fashion while others love
the extreme sports. Whichever field makes your heart skip a beat and you are sure you want to
continue doing it is what you should take.
2. Another piece of advice that will come in handy when you are finding your niche is that you
should learn to move out of your comfort zone. In order to become an expert photographer
you need to learn to push yourself to some extra limits. There are photographers who will hang
on trees, chase after a snake because they want to capture that perfect shot. This does not
mean you go posing with crocodiles or anything dangerous, it simply means that you need to
learn to try something new. Try creative things with angles, lighting- things that you would
normally not do.
Thirdly, attend your photography classes and workshops devotedly. It is a common
misconception that photography is all about taking shots and waiting for a flash. This cannot be
farther from the true. Is there balance in your photograph? What are the elements of the
picture and are the details in the photograph clear? These are just some of the things that you
need to learn among others if you are to become a successful photographer.
Choosing your camera
3. The niche that you choose will go hand in hand with the camera that you have. It is possible to
argue that you can make a camera work for you in any place. Well, you will have to struggle
mightily with some cameras before you take awesome shots in certain cases. For instance a
camera that you would use to take shots during a wedding might not be as excellent when
photographing sports or anything of the sort.
It is of great importance to make sure that you select the right camera for your activity. This you
will learn by participating in various photography workshops and even by attending the classes.
You will get to learn a lot about cameras and what specs to look for when you are buying. This
is aside from picking up photography tips from other photographers and experts in the field as
well.
