PROPHETIC WORD FROM STEVEN BLISS
The LORD said to Moses,
“Send men to explore the land of Canaan, which I will give to the Israelites. Send
one leader from each tribe.” Numbers 13:1-2 (NCV)
I am sending you out as spies into the land. Go where Holy Spirit leads.
Observe all you see. I will make you wise and show you where to go.
Report to me what you see. Do not wait, but tell me, So I can direct you. Bring
back to me the fruits of your labor. I will guide you and watch over you.
I am a God of mercy. In all I do my hand of protection is about you. You too are
to be merciful in your calling. The pathway is narrow, but prepared for those
who rely upon me.
After forty days of exploring the land, the men returned to the camp. They
came back to Moses and Aaron and all the Israelites at Kadesh, in the Desert of
Paran. The men reported to them and showed everybody the fruit from the land.

Recap from Last Week
We began this year, 2011:
The Year of Two Men Walking &
The Year of the Broken Bread
We are realizing that Christianity is about walking in
agreement with the Lord, what He is doing and then following
Him where He is going.
Two Men Walking points to the level of agreement that is necessary not only
with the Spirit but with those we are called to walk.
What interrupts our walk?
Strife
Unforgiveness
Unrevelation.
Yes, there is such a thing even if there isn’t such a word, by virtue of the fact that
if you can have revelation, you can also have the opposite: thus unrevelation.
Actually the opposite is called ignorance, but no one thinks of themselves as
ignorant, so let’s just call those the Unrevealed. When you are operating in an
unrevealed state, you are acting in an unrevealing manner.
3. Rules for Crossing
Typically, the person you are coming out won’t be the same person He brings in.
The entering process integrates two bookends:
Necessary endings, and concomitantly, or concurrently
New beginnings
They begin together
A necessary ending will precede or start before a new beginning breaks ground.
Consequently: New beginnings are often marked by deaths: Two Examples are:
The Passover lamb in Egypt
In the case of Joshua, the death of Moses
Entering an Inheritance
► Change of location: where you live
► Change of geography: where you are going
► Community: You do it with others (transformation is personal; inheritance
spiritually is collective) The Jews came out of Egypt Hebrews, but went into
Canaan as Israelites. One can put a thousand to flight…
► Renewed or Resurrected Vision for better: (Joshua sent in two spies vs.
the 12 that went in 40 year prior)
► Inheritances usually require Coming of Age: Pro. 20:21 Coming of Age films
are not about sex, they are about sonship
► Inheritances are given, not taken. God must take us to prevent the
inheritance from taking us
► Require Leadership and Leaders who enable us to recognize the “Now Times”

4. “For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, fell asleep,
and was laid among his fathers” Acts 13:36
Consistently, those who ‘cross-over’ into their inheritance, look for multi-generational impact.
Deu 34:4 Then the LORD said to him, “This is the land which I swore to Abraham,
Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants’;”
Those of us sitting in this room are the spiritual descendants of this scripture – and the promise
of the land stands true – and we will be the links between prophecy and the legacy.
Rule One: Remember to Forget
Moving forward requires 2 Acts of God (pun on Acts 2)
A Manasseh & an Ephraim
Genesis 41:50-52 Now before the year of famine came, two sons were born to Joseph,
whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera priest of On, bore to him. Joseph named the
firstborn Manasseh, “For,” he said, “God has made me forget all my trouble and all my
father’s household.” He named the second Ephraim, “For,” he said, “God has made me
fruitful in the land of my affliction.”
Manasseh: forgetting
Ephraim: fruitfulness in the land of affliction
Crossing over will call for these two effects: godly forgetting & godly fruit-bearing.
Spend some time with the Lord and allow Him to show you what you need to forget.
Then allow Him to demonstrate His power to produce fruit during a period of affliction.
Start paying attention to what you are refusing to forget and then to what
you are forgetting to remember!
Additionally, New Testament faith is not about the land – it’s about the fruit. Without the fruit,
even if you are given the land, you wouldn’t be able to keep it.
Promised Land can only be kept by Promised Fruit.
Knowledge vs. Information
It required 13 years from the time of his betrayal by his family for Joseph to enter his season of
fruit: he became fruitful when Pharaoh saw the wisdom and benefit of allowing Joseph to
administer the kingdom of Egypt. But until that time, Joseph has a bunch of starts and stops, and
the stops came pretty quickly and abruptly – and very hard. Looking at Joseph’s ‘hard stops,’ you
get the idea that he was on a strict timetable – you might be on one too!
This represented a period in Joseph’s life when he would acquire the knowledge necessary for
him to serve God’s purposes in his generation.
If you remember, back when Joseph was with his father and his brothers, when he received his
dreams, instead of his dreams creating opportunity and favor for him, it created strife, division,
hardship and misfortune. Any spiritual gift out of time will often produce the opposite of its
purpose or role.
5. That is because Joseph’s dreams were at that point just unprocessed information, not
knowledge.
The word knowledge has a pretty interesting origin. It comes from two roots: knouleche –
‘knou’ means to know. The second is the word from which we also get the word
wedlock: leche, game, battle [thus the battle of the sexes?], indicating a knowledge or
understanding that you have acquired or learned through strategy and battle which is now
part of your identity.
Every student has a working knowledge of the battle to acquire and apply information.
The Connection Between Forgetting & Fruitfulness
So just to review: It is paramount that in order to enter into the Promises of God, we must be
married to the double-edged sword of forgetting and fruitfulness.
Just remember: your fruit will produce your results, not the other way around.
Phl 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do],
forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are
before,
And Paul quickly reminds us that we can’t just focus on forgetting but:
Phl 3:14 -6 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ
Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be
otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. Nevertheless, whereto we have
already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
Rule Two: Take Voice Lessons
The Holy Spirit is your voice teacher, trainer and coach Who
knows how to teach you to recognize the voice of God. There
is no exemption from this Rule. You can’t depend on
someone else to do your listening for you.
The land you are headed for has no maps – but there are voices!
1Cr 14:10 There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them
[is] without signification.
John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Hebrews 3:7-9 Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says, “TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS
VOICE, DO NOT HARDEN YOUR HEARTS AS WHEN THEY PROVOKED ME,
AS IN THE DAY OF TRIAL IN THE WILDERNESS, WHERE YOUR FATHERS TRIED
ME BY TESTING ME,
The Hebrews were brought out of Egypt with the fullest assurance of blessing, prosperity and
eternal rest.
6. What this scripture verse points to is that the most dangerous sin is the sin of unbelief. We
typically don’t believe God because we judge Him based upon the integrity of our own character
and not His.
The Book of Hebrews is basically saying: Why don’t you get this or know this?
Remember the definition of ‘knowing’ is: a knowledge or understanding that you have acquired or
learned through strategy and battle which is now part of your identity.
But in addition to the understanding that comes with ‘spiritual’ knowing, is the ‘NOW’ of
KNOW. You see, it doesn’t matter how much you know; if you don’t know the Now of the
Know, the benefit is lost and you won’t get to where you need to go!
The book of Hebrews cites the phrase “to day” six times:
Hbr 3:7
Hbr 3:13
Hbr 3:15
Hbr 4:7
Hbr 5:5
Hbr 13:8
So allow me to state without exception: believing is hard if not impossible to do. It is something
that we make a decision to do in the present, not put off to the future.
That is why in Hebrews 3:13 it states:
But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened
through the deceitfulness of sin.
There are churches all over the place that are filled with spiritual cancer:
You cance do this
You cance to dat

RULE THREE: It’s All About the “Lettuce” Approach
The writer of Hebrews tells us that We is Us.
Hebrews 3:13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To
day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Twelve times he writes ‘Let us....’
So start thinking Lettuce. Not Me-Us or You-Us, but Lettuce!
Hebrew’s 12 Varieties of Lettuce
Hbr 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left [us] of entering into his rest,
any of you should seem to come short of it.
Hbr 4:11 Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same
example of unbelief.
Hbr 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens,
Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast [our] profession.
7. Hbr 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may
obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hbr 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto
perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith
toward God,
Hbr 10:22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our
hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Hbr 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of [our] faith without wavering; (for he [is]
faithful that promised;)
Hbr 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
Hbr 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of
witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset [us],
and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
Hbr 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have
grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
Hbr 13:13 Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach.
Hbr 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually,
that is, the fruit of [our] lips giving thanks to his name.
RULE FOUR: You Don’t Go In the Way Came Out
The Name Change Process Isn’t Painless
Jacob is that kind of character that represents us very well – he wants the blessing – he want it
so bad that he is willing to lie, cheat and steal in order to get it.
You see, Jacob could never maintain possession of the promise – he was too unstable,
untrustworthy, and only Israel can enter and possess the promises. Only God could produce the
change necessary. Jacob couldn’t change himself, and we can’t either.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of
God, [even] to them that believe on his name:
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
So how do we see that come about?
1. The Fruit of Forgetting
2. The Voice Lessons
3. Lettuce Attitude
4. Wrestling
I want to point to an old Broadway expression that has been used for a couple generations, one
that by its strict usage makes no sense…
Before Jacob could enter the Promised Land, he was forced to face God and his brother Esau –
both were scary but necessary passages.
You see, when we wrestle with God, we not only get a new name, but a new nature.
But there is a third thing that occurs: the wounding – as the Angel touched Jacob’s thigh – put it
out of joint – and forever caused him to walk with a limp.
8. You know, when someone is in a Broadway show, to wish them good luck, they are told to
break a leg – and as a prophetic lever, I view this picture of Jacob wrestling and prevailing with
God. There are certainly wrestlings in the spirit, but the hope and promise we have with God is
this:
We at told are to be BOLD because like Jacob, who continually wrestled, we too boldly come
to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need. Heb
4:16
That’s when our needs become God’s Heavenly Reminders to put in some throne time:
Hbr 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain
mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
