Week 1
• Within the first week I mainly focused on my planning by writing up a planning
PowerPoint for my work that includes equipment, scripts, mood boards etc. I also
conducted a test within the first week just to test the sound, camera placements and for
any other technical issues or faults which could be fixed. I did have a issue of the main
cameras cutting after about 15 minuets due to the SD cards being full. Overall it gave me
a strong idea on how I want to record the real interview and subjects to talk about. This
time around I need two audio recorders just to have clearer audio between us both.
Within my planning I also went in depth about how I want the script to be very minimal
as I want the interview to feel a lot more natural and comfortable between us both. This
definitely benefitted the test as it really gave me a good feel on how to approach the real
thing and what I would say.
Week 2
• This week I decided I was going to work on my editing skills as I had a few issues getting
equipment and getting audio recorders as all of them where booked out. I took some old
footage from a party I went to on Halloween that I filmed on my Sony hi8 camera and edited
it to some music using chops, audio edits such as reverb and some delay I also added a non-
additive dissolve effect to the same clip as I edited with the footage to make a contrast
between the rest of the clips. I've also manipulated the vhs fast-forward function footage to
make a intro for the video as it adds a nice effect of that the tape is being put into a old tv, I
also added my logo “intothecrypt” along with turning it negative to add another layer of
contrast to the edit, as it is only short edit I wanted to get as much in as possible to give it
punchiness and uniqueness. I want to further my skills in premiere and hopefully move onto
after affects eventually.
Week 3
this week I was able to film my project properly, I still ran into some technical issues such as the cameras SD card
being full meaning I lost the wide angle meaning I wont be visible within the project now which is a minor set back
as the main focus is fin and his experiences within music and the industry. I had to also use my phone as one of the
cameras wasn’t cleared properly and not formatted meaning I couldn’t use it, but with these technical difficulty's I
still managed to make it work and have started to edit the interview down. I've also had problems exporting the
iPhone footage as it has been taking up to 5 hours to do and I've had to do it multiple times making it frustrating
but in the end will be worth it. With the clips I've got from my Sony hi8 and some odd footage from my phone I've
been able to make a demo of sorts as I wait for the main footage to be exported so I can use it. This week has been
tough as I've been held a lot by technical difficulties and is making me strain for time to finish my project next
week even though that’s for evaluating, but with the footage I have I can help myself with that by half setting it up
ready for next week.
Week 4
• This week I intend on finishing my project and evaluation, I have been strained for time due
to equipment errors and technical difficulties such as the footage I needed not being saved
to my computer after I exported it which has really put a dent in my actual production time
for editing the interview and ultimately given me less time to be able to focus on my
evaluation. I believe I'm going to have to push my project back another week due to more
issues specifically with the video I needed as it has disappeared from my one drive meaning
I'm going to have to upload and export it again which will take a long time pushing
everything back once again and putting me behind everyone.
Week 5
• This week I've been focusing on getting my interview editing done along with
my evaluation whilst making sure everything is on my website before we do
the fmp. I've had to reupload and export the other angle of the interview a
couple times now which has pushed back my production quite a lot but Ill be
able to complete the interview and evaluation by the end of the week I just
need to time manage and stay focused on my tasks and if I can multi-task as
much as possible. I've been making solid progress on my evaluation even
though I'm behind, it is some what unfortunate that I have to leave some
questions for later as I cant answer them right now as I'm still editing my
interview. Ultimately I got the main project finished with a product I'm happy
with, the editing and cinematography was what I was looking for too, there are
some places I wish I had more time to experiment with such as screen graphics
etc but with my cut down time and the short scale of the interview it was hard
to try anything new.
