3. Cauliflower production in Vaishali district
In Vaishali district, total area under
vegetable crops was 13437 ha with the
production of 128019.60 tonnes
during 2019-20. In the district, the
area under cauliflower crop was 2945
ha with the production of 53599
tonnes which account for 21.91% and
41.86 % of total area and total
production under vegetable crop,
respectively.

5. • Scores on resource use efficiency act as guide to the
farming community to use their resources prudently
and efficiently in the production process in order to
maximize their income. Three types of efficiency
measures namely, technical efficiency (TE), allocative
efficiency (AE) also known as price efficiency and
economic efficiency also known as cost efficiency (CE),
where estimated for cauliflower production in the study
area, using data envelopment analysis (DEA) method.

7. The compound growth rates of area, production and
productivity of cauliflower in Bihar Vaishali district during
the period total year from 2001-02 to 2018-20, and 2001-02
to 2005-06 period-1), 2006-07 to 2010-11(period-2) and
2011-12 to 2018-20(period-3), has been worked out to
compare growth performance in the periods and has been
presented in Table

8. Compound annual growth rate of area, production and
productivity of cauliflower in Bihar Vaishali district. (In %
per annum)

9. India is the largest producer of cauliflower in the world. The major cauliflower
producing states are West Bengal (26%), Bihar (17%), Madhya Pradesh (10%),
Orissa (10%), Gujarat (8%), Haryana (7%), Assam (6%) and Maharashtra (3%).
According to FAO and Indian Horticulture Database 2020, total area 1226455
ha, production 68 22153522 MT and productivity 18.1 MT/ha of cauliflower in
the world. The total area of cauliflower in India is 402,000 ha, production
7887,000 MT and productivity 19.6MT/ha. In Uttarakhand total area of
cauliflower 2.76 ‘000 ha and production is 36.72 ‘000MT.

11. Selling time of produce
It has been revealed from the table that majority of
the respondents i.e. 87.5 percent sold their
produce immediately after the harvest as these
produces are very perishable and cannot be stored
for long period followed by12.5 percent of
respondents sold their produce after keeping in
house for 1 - 2 days due to price fluctuation.

Table shows that majority of the respondents
(81.25 percent) sold their produce at local
vegetable markets because they have no other
alternative followed by18.75 percent respondents
sold their produce at own field and nearby villages.
