Capital One Financial services has ambitious objective of unifying its Customer Care & Collection under
single umbrella to ease out customer servicing and can focus more on bringing value added products
utilizing this platform. Over 18 user interfaces (Care, Collections, back offices, Insurance, Loan origination
& servicing etc) would be transformed into 3 segments – Agents, Self Served options & Risk/Fraud. This
would necessiate a stronger core to be created to support these user interfaces. Whirl-end point services
(WES) application would be an indigenous product servicing all these user interfaces. Architecture team
would put up a robust and sustaineble framework utilizing In House Transactional Messaging service.
Over 100 modules would be created and 300 modules would need to be optimized to support the new
framework.

These projects were aimed at providing enhanced security features to Card holders and new protections
againsts potential frauds. Card Validation code went under rehaul as not to keep them on storage and
dynamically generating them while swiping at Point-of-Sale and validating at uthorization systems.
SEARS provided customer with new protection plans.
As a part of enhancement cycle which spanned across 4 months, the following activities were carried out ,
over and above the Technical Duties of a Team Lead for the two projects mentioned above.
· Creating Function Specification and Technical design
· Translating these requirements into easily maintenable Code and extensively Unit testing scenarios
· Co-ordinating the sizing/scoping, Defect resolution activities in SIT and ITT phase, and all process-related
activities for the entire release comprising 10 projects
· Co-ordinating with other development teams ( Front-ends like Toolbars, Internet , VRU etc) through
meetings and conf-calls, for the various projects commonly worked on by all.
· Creating the Implementation plan , which would make sure all the enhancements. done as part of the
release are seamlessly released into Production, with zero negative impacts to current functinality.
· Creating a back-out plan, which plans the modus-operandi for the removal of particular enhancements
( on the implementation day), in an intergrated way across all the impacted teams, if any adverse impact
is encountered on the Implementation day.
The two Technical projects- Fraud Data Enhancement and SERAS Protection Agreement (DB2 Driven)

Project: Dispute Systems Duration: Jan 06 to
June 06
Role: Developer Status:
Implemented
Dispute system replacement project is an End to End Migration of Business logic from an existing Dispute
Management product to GUI Work-flow system, the existing Disputes Management subsytem for our
Client, is to be rolled off , the void created to be filled by GUI and Back-end. But as the New product
brings with it its own framework and other contingencies, the current interfaces had to be analysed for
possible customizations and modifications required. As the front-end will be interacting with most of the
other sub-systems through an MQ/GTM interface, the major structure for the Front-end to sit in, had to
developed by the GTM team , which I was part of. As a part of this Initiative, I was one of the 5 member
team in creating the Back-end system for Dispute system.
The Analysis phase, which we were actively part of, involved understanding the Old system , befoe
embarking on creating the framework required for the new one. The final design required the Back-end to
create all the Disputes files to be sent to Association ( Mastercard+Visa), based on the data sent by GUI.
It would also serve as the channel through which Chordiant gets all its Account-level , Transaction-level
and Authorisation level details for its decisioning process while extensively interacting with CMS, FAS &
TRAMS/ITS.
Environment: VSAM, DB2, IBM OS/390, MVS/ESA, WHIRL, COBOL, JCL, CICS, Changeman, Xpeditor,

  • 7. Role: Developer Status: Implemented Dispute system replacement project is an End to End Migration of Business logic from an existing Dispute Management product to GUI Work-flow system, the existing Disputes Management subsytem for our Client, is to be rolled off , the void created to be filled by GUI and Back-end. But as the New product brings with it its own framework and other contingencies, the current interfaces had to be analysed for possible customizations and modifications required. As the front-end will be interacting with most of the other sub-systems through an MQ/GTM interface, the major structure for the Front-end to sit in, had to developed by the GTM team , which I was part of. As a part of this Initiative, I was one of the 5 member team in creating the Back-end system for Dispute system. The Analysis phase, which we were actively part of, involved understanding the Old system , befoe embarking on creating the framework required for the new one. The final design required the Back-end to create all the Disputes files to be sent to Association ( Mastercard+Visa), based on the data sent by GUI. It would also serve as the channel through which Chordiant gets all its Account-level , Transaction-level and Authorisation level details for its decisioning process while extensively interacting with CMS, FAS & TRAMS/ITS.
