STORYBOARD OF 31.10.10
IMPORTANT NOTE THESE SHOTS ARE NOT IN ORDER, THEY WILL CHANGE WHEN WE START EDITING OUR MOVIE TRAILER ON IMOVIE.
SHOT 1 THIS IS THE FIRST SHOT THAT WOULD BE IN OUR HORROR MOVIE TRAILER. IT IS ESSENTIAL TO HAVE THIS AS IT DISPLAYS THE PRODUCTION DETAILS AND SHOWS THE AGE RATING. IT CONSISTS OF TWO LINKS THAT APPROVES THE TARGET AUDIENCE FOR OUR TRAILER.  THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF THE PRODUCTION DETAIL THAT WE ARE GOING TO USE.
SHOT 2 THE 2ND SHOT IS AN ESTABLISHING SHOT OF THE HOUSE THAT WE WANT TO USE IN OUR TRAILER. WE WANTED THE CAMERA TO ZOOM UP INTO THE HOUSE, SO THE NUMBER ’31’ IS VISIBLE ON THE DOOR. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THIS SHOT IS THAT WE WANT TO INTRODUCE WHERE ALL THE ACTION IS GOING TO TAKE PLACE.
HOWEVER... WE WASNT ABLE TO GET A ESTABLISHING SHOT OF THE HOUSE, AS WE WERE NOT ABLE TO FIND A HOUSE WITH THE NUMBER 31, WHICH LOOKED SCARY. INSTEAD OF THIS, WE HAD DECIDED TO USE SHOTS OF A FRON DOOR, AND GATES OF A HOUSE WHICH CONSISTED OF THE NUMBER ‘31’ AND ALSO A BACK GARDEN. USING THESE SHOTS GIVES THE AUDIENCE A SENSE OF MYSTERY AS WE DIDNT INCLUDE HOW THE WHOLE HOUSE LOOKS LIKE.
SHOT 3 THE THIRD SHOT FOCUSES ON THE CHILDREN THAT WE HAVE DECIDED TO USE IN OUR TRAILER. WE WANT THERE TO BE NOISES OF THE CHILDREN HAVING FUN AND LAUGHING WHILST TRICK OR TREATING ON HALLOWEEN. THIS IS TO SHOW THE AUDIENCE THAT THE MOVIE IS FILMED ON HALLOWEEN AND ALSO THAT THE MOVIE WILL MAINLY CONSIST OF CHILDREN.  WE WANT THE SHOT TO INCLUDE THREE CHILDREN DRESSED UP IN THEIR HALLOWEEN OUTFIT TO MAKE IT LOOK REALISTIC. FOR THIS SHOT WE WANT A PANNING SHOT OF THE CHILDREN, WHICH WILL ALSO CONSIST OF THE AREA THAT THEY ARE IN, SO IT MAKES THE AUDIENCE FEEL INVOLVED IN WHAT THE ACTOS ARE DOING.
SHOT 4 FOR THE 4th SHOT WE WANTED A CHILD TO WALK AWAY FROM THE PARENT, RUNNING TOWARDS THE HOUSE ‘31’. THE PURPOSE OF THIS SHOT IS TO SHOW HOW THE CHILD ENDS UP AT THE MYSTERIOUS DOOR.
HOWEVER... WE WASNT ABLE TO DO THIS SHOT EITHER AS DURING THIS TIME WE DIDNT HAVE AN ADULT AS AN ACTOR. BUT INSTEAD WE HAD THE CHILD WALK WAY FROM A GROUP OF FRIENDS, AND A SHOT WHERE YOU CAN SEE THE CHILD OPENING THE GATE TO GO IN TOWARDS THE HOUSE ‘31’.
SHOT 5 IN THE 5TH SHOT,  WE WANT THE CHILD TO STAND INFRONT OF THE DOOR NUMBER ‘31’. THIS IS GOING TO BE A LOW MID-SHOT, WE CAN PUT OURSELVE IN THE CHARACTERS POSITION, AND WE ALSO WANT TO EMPHASIS ON THE HOUSE. AFTER THIS SHOT, WE WANT THE CHILD TO GET SNATCHED BY THE ‘KILLER’ VERY QUICKLY. FOR THIS SHOT THERE WILL ALSO BE SOME DIALOGUE, AS THE CHARACTER WILL FIRST KNOCK ON THE DOOR, AND SAY ‘TRICK OR TREAT’.
SHOT 6 THIS IS THE SHOT WHERE WE ARE GOING TO SHOW THE CHILD GETTING SNATCHED. WE ARE GOING TO SHOW A WHOLE BODY SHOT OF THE CHILD, AND PROBABLY ALSO THE PROTAGONIST KILLER.
SHOT 7 THIS SHOT WILL SHOW WHO STARS IN OUR MOVIE TRAILER. WE WANT TO SHOW A ‘FAMOUS’ ACTOR, SO THIS GAINS MORE OF AN AUDIENCE AND WILL BOOST THE MOVIE PUBLICITY. THIS INVITES THE AUDIENCE IN WITH A FAMILIAR NAME. WHICH WOULD MAKE THEM WANT TO WATCH THE MOVIE.
SHOT 8 THIS 8TH SHOT IS OF A SPADE AND IN THE GROUND YOU CAN SEE A HAND STICKING OUT. AFTER WE THOUGHT THAT THIS SHOT MAY BE TOO DIFFICULT TO SHOOT, SO WE DECIDED TO DO A SHOT OF THE PROTAGONIST HOLDING A BLACK BAG, WHICH A ‘DEAD BODY’ INSIDE. THIS IS AN EFFECTIVE SHOT AS IT SHOWS THAT THE MOVIE IS BASED AROUND A PSYCHO KILLER, WHICH THEN SHOWS IT IS OF A HORROR GENRE. THE CAMERA TRACKS WHAT THE KILLER IS DOING WITH THE SPADE AND LEAVE THE AUDIENCE WANTING MORE.
SHOT 9 THIS SHOT WILL SHOW THE PROTAGONIST HOLDING A WEAPON, WHILE THE CHILD IS TERRIFIED [DRESSED IN HER COSTUME] ABOUT WHAT THE KILLER MIGHT DO. WE WANT A CLOSE UP SHOT OF THE WEAPON, SO IT SHOWS SOME SIGNIFICANCE ABOUT WHAT THE KILLER USES FOR ITS VICTIMS. IF WE ARE NOT ABLE TO GET HOLD OF A CHAINSAW FOR THIS, WE WOULD HAVE TO FIND OTHER ALTERNATIVES.
SHOT 10 WE WANT SHOT 10 TO INCLUDE A SLIDE THAT SHOWS ‘THIS HALLOWEEN IN 3D’. THE PURPOSE FOR THIS SHOT WOULD BE TO INVITE THE AUDIENCE AS THIS IS SEEN AS A UNIQUE SELLING POINT (USP). THIS IS EFFECTIVE WHEN TRYING TO SELL A MOVIE AS 3D MOVIES HAVE BECOME VERY POPULAR.
SHOT 11 SHOT 11 WILL SHOW A SIGNIFICANT VIEW OF THE DOOR NUMBER ‘31’. FOR THIS SHOT WE WANT THE CAMERA TO SLOWLY MOVE TOWARDS THE DOOR AND ZOOM INTO THE NUMBER ‘31’, SO THIS WOULD BE A MID-SHOT INTO A CLOSE-UP SHOT. THIS IS IMPORTANT AS IT SHOWS WHERE ALL THE HORROR IS GOING TO TAKE PLACE AS SAID BEFORE, AND IT ALSO SHOWS THAT IT IS PART OF THE MOVIE NAME.
SHOT 12 OUR LAST SHOT OF THE TRAILER IS GOING TO THE MOVIES NAME, AS IT KEEPS THE AUDIENCE IN SUSPENSE ABOUT WHAT THE MOVIE IS CALLED, AND LEAVES THEM WANTING MORE. WE DID RESEARCH INTO WHERE MOST NAMES OF MOVIES GO IN A TRAILER, AND IT IS ALWAYS FOUND AT THE END OF THE TRAILER. WE WILL MERGE THIS SHOT WITH SHOT 11 AS IT GIVES A GOOD EFFECT FROM THE DOOR TO THE TITLE.
IMPORTANT NOTE DURING SHOOTING FOR ‘31.10.10’, SOME SHOTS MAY CHANGE DEPENDING IF WE ARE ABLE TO DO THEM OR WE THINK UP OF SOMETHING NEW.

IF WE ARE NOT ABLE TO GET HOLD OF A CHAINSAW FOR THIS, WE WOULD HAVE TO FIND OTHER ALTERNATIVES.
  • 14. SHOT 10 WE WANT SHOT 10 TO INCLUDE A SLIDE THAT SHOWS ‘THIS HALLOWEEN IN 3D’. THE PURPOSE FOR THIS SHOT WOULD BE TO INVITE THE AUDIENCE AS THIS IS SEEN AS A UNIQUE SELLING POINT (USP). THIS IS EFFECTIVE WHEN TRYING TO SELL A MOVIE AS 3D MOVIES HAVE BECOME VERY POPULAR.
  • 15. SHOT 11 SHOT 11 WILL SHOW A SIGNIFICANT VIEW OF THE DOOR NUMBER ‘31’. FOR THIS SHOT WE WANT THE CAMERA TO SLOWLY MOVE TOWARDS THE DOOR AND ZOOM INTO THE NUMBER ‘31’, SO THIS WOULD BE A MID-SHOT INTO A CLOSE-UP SHOT. THIS IS IMPORTANT AS IT SHOWS WHERE ALL THE HORROR IS GOING TO TAKE PLACE AS SAID BEFORE, AND IT ALSO SHOWS THAT IT IS PART OF THE MOVIE NAME.
  • 16. SHOT 12 OUR LAST SHOT OF THE TRAILER IS GOING TO THE MOVIES NAME, AS IT KEEPS THE AUDIENCE IN SUSPENSE ABOUT WHAT THE MOVIE IS CALLED, AND LEAVES THEM WANTING MORE. WE DID RESEARCH INTO WHERE MOST NAMES OF MOVIES GO IN A TRAILER, AND IT IS ALWAYS FOUND AT THE END OF THE TRAILER. WE WILL MERGE THIS SHOT WITH SHOT 11 AS IT GIVES A GOOD EFFECT FROM THE DOOR TO THE TITLE.
