How to create a ssh banner on NetApp Filer
1. How to create a 'ssh-banner' message
that is suppose to come up before the
login, before you type in the password.
For 7-mode:
Step 1:
Create a banner:
7-mode>wrfile -a /etc/issue "whatever text you wnat to put"
Example:
7-mode>wrfile -a /etc/issue "7-mode:Hostname Authorized users only!"
Step 2:
Enable this option
7-mode> options ssh2.banner.enable
ssh2.banner.enable off
7-mode> options ssh2.banner.enable on
7-mode> options ssh2.banner.enable
ssh2.banner.enable on
Exit ssh terminal, and re-login to see if the change is successful.
2. cDOT:
Step 1:
cluster::> security login banner modify -message "whatever text you want to put"
Example:
cluster::> security login banner modify -message "cDOT:hostname Authorized users only!"
Step 2:
Confirm the banner message:
cluster::> security login banner show
Vserver: Cluster
Message
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
cDOT:hostname Authorized users only!
cluster::>
Exit ssh terminal, and re-login to see if the change is successful.
