Project TARGET CORPORATION
Customer TARGET
Period March 2015 – Nov 2015
Role Mainframe developer
Description
Multichannel Inventory Management (MCIM) will enable joint inventory management through
shared multichannel systems, processes and tools. As part of this, there are two main applications
that are being enhanced.
Order Management system (OMS) is an application the client (Merchandising) uses to create,
maintain and allocate PO’s. Purchase order is a legal agreement between Target Corp. and a
vendor that outlines the details of a purchasing transaction. It defines, in detail, what Target Corp.
is ordering from the Vendor, the conditions by which the goods will be transferred from the Vendor
to Target Corp., and the agreement for payment. The Order system is where POs are reserved,
created, approved, maintained, and changed. POs are created using inputs from Vendor, Item, and
Replenishment systems. POs requested or generated from a Replenishment system are fed into
Order. POs can also be created manually in the Order system, if needed.
Inventory Tracking Application (ITA) is a system to maintain and view inventory. All available sales
transactions, on order, on demand, on hand and on withdrawal inventory are maintained in this
system.
With MCIM, we enable .com item orders to be created in the stores Order management system
and its inventory can be tracked in the stores ITA system thereby providing a unified platform for
store and .com items across Target
