{For Video & More details, see: http://bit.ly/na2ie }Behavioral bases for an Islamic society are gratitude, contentment, and trust. These are radically different from the characteristics of homo economicus, the basis for modern economics. Even though it claims to be descriptive, modern economics is actually a normative definition of "rational" behavior. However, this rationality is actually very foolish in human society, where cooperation, generosity, and social responsibity lead to far better outcomes. This lecture is the first in a new approach to Islamic Economics, which seeks to create an Islamic society on foundations of Islamic values.
