Sit comfortably because we shall officially start our new lesson. BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER RADIO TEACHER: A vowel digraph is a combination of two vowels that make a single vowel sound like oa in ‘boat’, oo in ‘book’, ee in ‘feet’, ea in ‘meat’, ai in ‘rain’, and ay in pray. It can be found either at the beginning, at the middle, or at the end of the word. The vowel digraphs ay and ai have long a sound. Ea and ee have long e sound, while oo and oa have long o sound. Here are some examples of words with vowel digraph. Repeat after me: Words with vowel digraph /ai/ in words that sounds as long a. Example: pail, sail, and nail.Words with vowel digraph /ay/ in words that alsosounds as long a. Example: spray, clay, and slay. Words with vowel digraph /ee/ in words that sounds as long e. Example: teeth, speech, and free. Words with vowel digraph /ea/ in words that also sounds as long e. Example: head, bear, and fear. Words with vowel digraph /oo/ in words that sounds as long o. Example: mood, food, and hood. Words with vowel digraph /oa/ in words that also sounds as long o. Example: loaf, coat, and toast. Those are some of the words with vowel digraphs and there’s a lot more of them. BIZ: MSC UP AND UNDER RADIO TEACHER: Are you still good? Great! To expand our knowledge about Phrases, Sentences and Short Stories with Vowel Digraphs, let’s do an entertaining exercise. Ready your paper/notebook, pen and of course your module.
