2. People who set Goals People who don’t
Know where they’re going (Proactive) Just float along (Reactive)
Have a Target to focus energy and effort on Spend all their energy – mostly spinning wheels
Have a Purpose and a Cause Spend a lot of time wondering “What am I
supposed to be doing?”
Have contentment and peace of mind knowing
their efforts are moving them toward a goal
Heard to utter the phrase “Why do I even
bother?” and “What is the point?”
3. Clarify your Goal in your mind & heart
in such a way that it is simple to state
and simple to understand
State it in the ‘Will Do’,
not the ‘Want To’
Stating YOUR Goal to others is
imparting information – NOT asking
approval or belief
4. A Goal with a Deadline is a TARGET
Hitting a target requires aim
A Goal without a Deadline is a
daydream, not a TARGET
Aim at nothing, & you will hit it almost
every time
5. This is where you lay out the ‘carrot’.
List as many Benefits as you can possibly think of
that you will receive from Achieving your Goal.
Law of Attraction
Thoughts create realities
Birds of a feather
6. Defeat the attitude that Obstacles are
STOP SIGNS.
Obstacles & Impossible share some
letters, NOT definitions
Add value & meaning to the
accomplishment of your goal. (BBA)
List them so you can plan how to
overcome them.
7. This ‘Skill Inventory’ is crucial because any
skill you lack will appear BEFORE it becomes
a matter of success or failure.
‘Dr. Google’
&
‘Professor YouTube’
8. Do not be afraid or embarrassed to ask
for HELP (Charity?)
Asking for a Hand UP is RESPECTED
among high achievers, & leads to
Mentors & Coaches.
Time not wasted ‘rediscovering’
something is time spent making
progress toward accomplishing your
Goal.
9. MAKE A PLAN NOW:
WHEN are you going to do the research?
WHEN are you going to talk to that Professor about mentoring you?
WHEN are you going to do the analysis of the demographics of your city
to see if it will support your idea for a business?
WHAT? WHEN? HOW?
“Those who fail to plan –
plan to fail.”
-Dale Carnegie
