We are happy to share with you our 5th annual ranking of the most popular programs
among MBAs from around the world, 2019 Ranking of MBA Development Programs!
It’s exciting to observe changes and trends from one year to another, as well as to think
further about the underlying factors, such as interests of this year’s MBA cohort, changes
on company, industry and market level.
This report is composed of global ranking, followed by analysis by industry, functional area
and school location. This year we added a new industry – Telecommunications, as well as
analysis on placement changes from last year’s to this year’s ranking.
In September 2019, you are also warmly welcome to the LDP Career Forum, where
employers get to increase visibility of their program in short online Q&A sessions with top
MBA talent.

What are Development Programs?
Structured, intense, and often rotational, MBA Development
Programs are fast-track programs within companies to develop
and groom high-potential MBAs for future leadership roles.
They vary a lot from one program to the next as each company
tailors its programs to its specific needs: Structure, duration,
experiential experiences, function focus, rotations, mentorship
and coaching, on-the-job and formal training, etc.
However, what all of them have in common is the objective to
shape and grow the future top leaders of these organizations,
and therefore, the rigorous selection criteria to attract and recruit
the right candidates.

Our Unique Data
We track every Development Program, worldwide. We add new
programs, archive old ones, and update current ones through monthly
manual checks, regular connections with companies, as well as on-going
automatic processes to alert us of any intermediary changes.
We have two directories of development programs:
• 692* programs for MBAs under MBA-Exchange.com
• 771* programs for Masters students under Careernomics.com
This report looks exclusively at the programs on MBA-Exchange.com
and is based on +200’000** program views from our +100 client
business schools that are subscribed to this service.

* Another 500+ programs are monitored but archived as no longer active and relevant
for our candidates. Note that 248 programs appear in both directories as they target
Masters as wells as MBAs.

This report ranks 692* development programs based on
+200’000 views* between April 16, 2018 and April 15, 2019.
It is divided in several main sections with corresponding sub-
rankings. Namely we have analyzed it as follows:

2019. Here is the recap of changes in the top 10:
• Amazon, Johnson & Johnson, Siemens and
IBM are holding still positions 1-4 from last
year
• AB InBev gains one spot from last year, now
on place Nr 5
• Shell makes a significant leap forward from
last year, advancing from Nr 11 to Nr 7
• Another surprising achievement: Emerson
moves up for 6 places and is now on spot Nr 8
• J.P. Morgan and Danaher each slide down one
place: J.P. Morgan now Nr 9 and Danaher Nr

• Provide solid evidence of leadership qualities
• Avoid a technical CV
• Showcase initiative, leadership, drive, people skills,
resourcefulness, humility, emotional intelligence, etc.

skills, soft skills, as well as personality)
