1. Kingston and Sutton Educational Partnership – Models for
embedding the delivery of GCSE mathematics and English into
Advanced Apprenticeships
Kingston and Sutton Educational Partnership project aims to develop a guide,
curriculum materials and models for the delivery of GCSE maths and English,
alongside Apprenticeship frameworks.
Many reports have highlighted the demand from employers for good maths and
English amongst both adults and young people, however there has been little
practical curriculum modelling post 19 as to how qualifications like the GCSE can be
integrated into an Apprenticeship framework.
Many organisations opt for functional skills as the minimum Apprenticeship
requirement because of a perceived lack of time to deliver GCSE qualifications
alongside other Apprenticeship elements.
The project will focus specifically on Advanced Apprenticeships, but it is expected to
have wider benefits for the delivery of other qualifications, for example BTEC
Diplomas.
The project will produce pedagogic planning tools, case studies, learning resources,
work schemes and guidelines which will be ready for the Sector to adopt and use.
