Dear Sir/Madam
On behalf of Sagiya Foundation I’m proud to mention that we regard Prof. Anthony Rippon as one
of the well experienced Artists. Prof Rippon is a Strategic Adviser for Sagiya Foundation. Prof.
Anthony Rippon has excellent skills as a Musician, Guitarist, Singer, Composer and Arranger.
I, Atlas Duma the founder and Executive Director of Sagiya Foundation confirm that Prof. Rippon
has worked with Sagiya Foundation in many art productions and performances that we produced
and presented, such as Dim-Dep The Musical, the Dim Dep Enviro Blitz and a Book launch in concert
round table discussion in the Playhouse Opera Theatre in Durban. Performances included musical
events in 2015 at MiTH (Music in The Hills) right up until virtually in November 2020, which included
performances at The Playhouse Opera Theatre, Sibaya Casino - Izulu Theatre and other arts and
culture events held in and around Durban such as rehearsals at the BAT Centre. Prof. Rippon has
furthermore been involved before the lockdown in other adhoc ‘edutainment’ events such as
seminar workshops, business breakfasts, conferences and music festivals that were produced, such
as the recent innovative Sagiya Virtual Jazz Concert 2020, which included a 2-day virtual
international Jazz concert in November during this lockdown.
Just as many of our artists, Prof. Rippon has lost many work opportunities in the arts and culture
industry due to when the COVID-19 lockdown started initially, to date. Prof. Rippon in the past
relied on performing arts productions and events, seminar workshops and conferences which often
incorporated ‘edutainment’ (education through entertainment), to earn an income during these
challenging times. As the CEO of Sagiya Foundation opportunities for performing artists as well as
theatre practitioners, are desperately needing assistance during this 2nd
wave of the Pandemic.
I recommend Prof. Anthony Rippon be considered for phase 3 relief funding that could currently
assist him in this challenging time. For any further information required regarding Prof. Rippon,
please don’t hesitate to contact me with regards to this reference provided. Yours in support.
Warmest regards
