2. A hungry wolf was looking
for food when he met a
house dog that was passing
by.
3. “Cousin,” said the
dog, “your life is much
harder than mine.”
The dog said, “Cousin, your
life is much harder than
mine.”
4. “Cousin said the dog,” your
life is much harder than
mine. Why don’t you come
to work with me and get
your food given to you
regularly?”
5. “I would like that,” said the
wolf. “Do you know where I
can find such a job?”
The wolf said, “I would like
that. Do you know where I
can find such a job?”
6. “I will easily arrange that for
you,” said the dog. “Come
with me to my master’s
house and we will share my
work.”
7. So the wolf and the dog went
towards the town together. On
the way there, the wolf noticed
that the hair on a certain part
of the dog’s neck was very
much worn away, so he asked
him how that had come about.
8. “Oh, it is nothing,” said the
dog. “That is only the place
where the collar is put on
me every night to keep me
chained up. It hurts a bit at
first, but you will soon get
used to it.”
9. “Then good-bye to you,”
said the wolf. “I would
rather starve than be a fat
slave.”
