3. The Flying Sikh
Independent India’s first individual sports star, the
late great Milkha Singh dominated Indian track and
field for over a decade with his speed and spirit,
creating multiple records and winning numerous
medals in his career.
In 1960, he was persuaded by then Prime Minister
Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to run against Abdul Khaliq
in Pakistan, whom he defeated. He then received
the title of “the Flying Sikh” by General Ayub.

4. CHILDHOOD
Born on 20 November 1929 in Gobind Pura village
in the Muzaffargarh district of Pakistan.
He was one of 15 siblings.
Studied at a village school in Pakistan upto 5th Std.
During partition he witnessed killings of his family
members.
He dreamt big through his difficult situation and it
showed his desire and never give up from
childhood.
Somehow deep within Milkha knew that he
wanted to lead a better and more productive life. 4

• Lost his parents in the riots that took place during
the partition
• Before joining the army he did petty job to survive
• After several attempts he was finally able to join
Indian Army
• He was not able to qualify in his first Olympic
which was held at Melbourne

Shah Rukh Khan is one of the leading stars of the Indian

1.Shah Rukh khan, who has seen endless struggles in his life – he has slept on streets,
struggled to support himself and his sister at a very young age. He even lost his parents
very early which led to his sister seeking mental health support. Amidst all the chaos and
challenges, he kept pushing himself, and today he stands tall as the ‘Badshah of
Bollywood’.
2.Finally, after many rejections he started his journey from Television Series in 1988, in Dil
Dariya, which was his first starring role; but due to production delay, Raj Kapoor Directed
1989 series Fauji became his television debut instead, where he played the Lead Role.
3.Soon after his big screen debut came in the form of Dewaana in 1992.

Shahrukh has won the ‘Filmfare’ in the ‘Best Actor’ category several times.
He has been honored with the ‘Best Indian Citizen Award’ in the year 1997.
IIFA has also presented him with the ‘Most Popular Actor’ award and also

In 2002 he won the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Award for Excellence’ in the ‘Field of
