1. A campaign that’s redefining financial advertising.
For a generation that’s redefining retirement.

Dreams don’t retire.
One year ago, we launched the Ameriprise Financial brand with
this message: just as the baby boomer generation is redefining
retirement, Ameriprise Financial is redefining financial planning.
Our advertising campaign engaged boomers with an uplifting and
positive message. We conducted the groundbreaking New Retirement
MindscapeSM
study with Age Wave that introduced five emotional
stages of retirement. We launched the Dream BookSM
guide, which
has an innovative premise: when developing a financial plan, you
have to start with your dreams.
Now, in our advertising campaign launching September 10, we
are telling boomers HOW we are redefining financial planning.
And it all begins with this insight:
“Dreams don’t retire.”
That’s what we are saying to our boomer audience. Dreams don’t
retire. It’s an inspirational message that embodies the spirit of the
boomer generation.
And what better person to personify this message than the legendary
actor and boomer icon Dennis Hopper. He is starring in our ads
speaking directly to boomers.
The campaign itself is certainly attention grabbing — we’ve shot the
spots in beautiful vistas, using a striking red chair that symbolizes
the launching pad for boomer retirement dreams.
Is this a radically different approach to financial services marketing?
You bet. And purposefully so. The campaign will be sure to turn
heads. Our audience will take notice. And we’ll be recognized as
the financial services company that understands a simple fact:
dreams don’t retire.
We hope you enjoy it.
Best regards,
Kim Sharan

Defining the DREAM.
At Ameriprise Financial, before
we talk about numbers, we want
to know about a client’s dreams.
That’s why we’ve created the
Dream BookSM
guide. It is like
a personal journal that will
literally take a client on a journey
through his or her past and into
the future, searching for the
passion, the satisfaction and
fulfillment they seek. But that’s
just the start.
Developing the PLAN.
There needs to be a plan to help
bring the dream alive. That’s
where the Ameriprise Financial
commitment to one-to-one,
face-to-face financial planning
really makes a difference. An
Ameriprise financial advisor will
meet with a client to review every
aspect of his or her finances
— that way, working together,
the advisor can get the best
picture of what the client needs
to do to achieve their dreams.
With this information, the advisor
will create a tailored financial
plan — a plan that encompasses
the client’s entire financial life.
Then, the advisor and client will
determine the best combination
of products and services needed
to implement the financial plan
— from cash to fixed income
to equities to insurance and
protection products. But it
doesn’t end there...
TRACKING the progress.
From time to time, the client
will need to adjust his or her
plan — make course corrections
to stay on track. An Ameriprise
financial advisor will be there
for the long run — to help
evaluate progress, determine
any necessary adjustments
and keep them on the path
to realizing their dreams. The
advisor will be available for
regular checkup meetings or
for any situation that might
require immediate attention.
Our commitment to the client
is not just for today, or even
tomorrow. We want to see
our clients live their dreams.
Advertisements convey the unique
Ameriprise Financial planning
process designed to help make
their dreams a reality.
