3. Common Admission Test (CAT)
The Common Admission Test or CAT is the most popular
nationwide entrance test for admission into various management
courses in India. The Indian Institute of Managements (IIMs) use
this test as the primary criteria for selecting students for admission
into its reputed management courses.
Besides IIMs, over 182 top business schools use the CAT as the
admission criteria for admission into their management courses.
The score obtained in this test is valid for one year. To write this
test, you must hold a bachelor degree with at least 50% marks. Final
year students are also eligible to appear. The registration usually
closes in the last week of September and the exam is held in the
month of November .The results are published in the month of
January.

4. Management Aptitude Test
The MAT test is a standardized test conducted by All India
Management Association (AIMA) since 1988. MAT is
conducted by the Centre for Management Services (CMS)
division of All India Management Association (AIMA) in four
times a year (in February, May, September & December).
It can be taken if you want to get into a good business school
in India or abroad. Next to CAT, the MAT score is the most
widely accepted score in India.
Over 600 business schools in India use MAT as an admission
criteria. The test can either be taken in a paper-pen format or
in the computer format. A registration fee of Rs 1200 is
required to complete registration. Aspirants must hold
bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized university
to write this entrance test. Final year students are also eligible

5. Xavier’s Aptitude Test (XAT)
Like CAT and MAT, XAT is also an Indian nationwide
entrance test used primarily by XLRI to select students for
admission into its MBA programme.
Though IIM does not use XAT as a criterion for admission,
over 140 other Indian management institutes use XAT as a
criterion for admission. You need to be a graduate to take this
test.
The registration closes in the first week of December and the
test is conducted in January and the results are declared in
the same month.

6. NMAT by GMAC
NMAT by GMAC is an entrance exam conducted by Graduate
Management Admission Council® (GMAC®) to select
students for admissions to NMIMS University and 15 other B-
schools across India.
NMAT by GMAC is a computer based test usually conducts in
the month of October every year.
Aspirants can get the application form paying Rs. 1600; also
the application varies depending upon the number of
programs and campuses you are applying for. Aspirants must
hold bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognized
university to write this entrance test.

7. Graduate Management Aptitude Test
(GMAT)
A test that is equivalent to CAT in its challenge and rigour, the
GMAT is a test you must take if you wish to do MBA abroad. It is the
most popular management test and over 2100 universities in the
world, including Indian universities and business schools, use
GMAT scores as criteria for selecting students. Its score is valid for
five years.
To take this test, you must be at least 18 years of age and possess a
graduate degree from any recognized university. The GMAT can be
taken at any time of the year and it is an on demand test.
The test can be taken once every 31 days and in one year, a
candidate can take a maximum of five tests.

8. Common Management Aptitude Test
(CMAT)
CMAT is a computer based management aptitude test
conducted by All India Council for Technical Education
(AICTE). It is a standardized nationwide test that was
launched by AICTE to reduce the mental and financial burden
of students in giving various entrance tests. The CMAT score
is accepted by all the AICTE approved colleges that offer the
MBA degree.
The registration starts in the second week of November and
closes in the second week of December.
The test is conducted usually in the second week of January
and the results are published a week later than the test date.

9. Choosing the Best Entrance Test
The entrance tests you are appearing depend on which
universities/business schools you wish to enter. You must also
consider national and international validity.
You must also make sure whether the university of your
choice accepts the entrance test or not. CAT will give you the
passport to most of the Indian business schools and GMAT
will make you eligible to do MBA abroad.
Hence, it can be said that CAT and GMAT are the best
entrance tests to take for admission into MBA.
