SENIOR DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Key engagement is as the Senior Development Manager responsible for the management of all
development with the Visa Europe Clearing and Settlement systems, covering 3 development teams
and changes included in 4 main business system releases across each year.
Also requested to take on an additional role of IT Delivery Lead for a major change programme to
introduce Token based payment capability into the Visa eco-system. This role covered delivery
responsibly across all of the main IT streams including Architecture, Analysis, Development, Test and
Release Management.
Key Achievements
• Delivered all release for the Tokenisation project to plan, supporting the initial product launch in
the UK along with subsequent functional upgrades and releases to support further Token
suppliers
• Introduced a range of Agile processes into the Token programme including regular drops into test
and live, burn-down tracking, and backlog management
• Developed and implemented a skills matrix model to manage training and development in the
VECSS team which was adopted IT wide
• Developed an Agile maturity model to support the Agile adoption programme, and also paid an
active role in driving the introduction of various Agile principles into the VECSS team and the
wider IT department
• Reviewed and implemented a revised metric pack for the VECSS area to monitor and manage
code quality, people development and delivery capability

Primary final role was as a Development Manager responsible for the management of all development
activity within one of the Landmark business verticals (Financial Risk). Initially engaged to head up the
Programme Office for Landmark, with responsibility for the delivery of the overall programme plan and
management of the Programme Office on a day-to-day basis.
Key responsibility is providing governance for and management of the delivery of the overall
development programme within the business vertical, along with line management responsibility for
the development teams within the stream. Also responsible for the development and refinement of
the internal development processes based on a ‘pragmatic’ Agile/Scrum model.
Key Achievements:

to upgrade the existing mobile and legacy application suites

Engaged as an Agile focussed Consultant to take on a range of Programme and Project Management
roles within various blue chip financial and trading institutions.
Prime role was leading the development of 2 key delivery streams as part of a major business
transformation project within a major oil trading house, and the managing the development of a key
regulatory project within a major trading organisation, along with refinement of a range of Agile based
Project Management principles.

• Delivered 6 significant business developments to time, scope and quality using a pragmatic
approach to the Agile delivery methodology within a Java, Scala and C# environment
• Managed the development of a Trade and Order Management streams within a major business
and IT change programme to re-develop the full end-to-end trading system within the

Programme Management for two multi-million pound projects in partnership with IBM and
Detica/Wipro, to develop a major B2C eChannel for online sales and servicing of Yell products.
Overall responsibility for the programme delivery via the development and business streams along
with full budgetary control for both programmes (£15m & £7m) to agreed forecasts.
Key achievements
• Developed the key elements of a B2C eChannel using a combination of on-shore and off-shore
IBM resources aligned with key internal people
• Implemented the first commercial exploitation within Yell using the SOA framework to provide
sales and back-office support for a key new product initiative, delivering a system with a yearly
revenue target of £11M
• Successfully managed core 3rd
party supplier engagement (on-shore / off-shore) to ensure
delivery to time and quality, based on a range of defined metrics
• Delivered a Java / IBM Websphere SOA based eCommerce framework to form part of the core
architectural model for future developments within Yell

outsourcing arrangement into a wider range of development areas and technologies

systems, whilst ensuring the consistent achievement of the departmental objective of a 99%
