2. Forces
Though I initially served as a Gunner in the Royal Artillery, I subsequently trained as a technical storeman and gained
extensive experience in commodity management and supply, serving in Germany, Hong Kong, Canada, Poland,
Northern Ireland and Cyprus.
Over the course of my military career I was responsible for the following:
Barrack closures:
• Management of various Germany barrack closures including auditing and closing of accounts, removal and
disposal of hazardous waste
• Handing buildings back to local authorities
New barrack management:
• Daily responsibility for provision, management and supply of commodity items required in a modern barracks
(accommodation, office and Naafi blocks, plus Officers Mess, sergeant’s accommodation, kitchens and all
equipment)
• Supervision of multiple teams
• Capital equipment budget management of up to £5million
• Checking contractor work on a new complex worth £66million
• Coordination of department move into new complex
• Overseeing general building maintenance thereafter
Key achievements:
• Received recognition for meticulous account keeping and for being one of the first in the Army to transfer
commodity accounts to a new format
• Royal Tournament (Earls Court) – administrative supervisor for the tournament which required a varied range
of items in order to accommodate military and civilian agencies. As a result of my hard work and effort, I was
put forward for an MBE
