Lean
Awareness
Seminar
Build a F1 Racer
This introductory Lean seminar enables
participants to understand the benefits of
Lean for their organization; the key Lean
principles, tools and techniques and how
to approach implementation.
Lean thinking has become a widely
adopted improvement approach that can
greatly simplify processes and improve
performance in both manufacturing and
service organizations. Lean recognizes
that most of an organization's processes
are at best 40% value adding. Effectively
applying Lean principles and tools can
significantly improve the percentage of
value added time; reduce process
timescales; and reduce waste and the
associated costs. At the same time there
will be an improvement in customer
service and satisfaction levels.
That Lean can keep what it promise will be
experienced during the exercise specially
developed for this seminar. In four rounds
Lean Improvements will be implemented
and show how powerful Lean is.
Lean extends far beyond its historical
roots in the automotive industry and is
feasible in almost every manufacturing
business. Lean is not a one-off procedure,
rather a continuous journey that starts with
the customer. Manufacturers who are lean
are able to increase their profitability by
satisfying the end customer and reducing
operational costs. Start to reduce your
operating costs by participating in our
Lean Awareness Seminar.

Murphy's Law:
Anything that can go wrong will go
wrong!
That's why your company needs mistake
proofing.
Stop producing with mistakes and
errors
Mistake Proofing, Poka Yoke, or error
proofing as some people call it, refers to
techniques that make it impossible to
make mistakes.
Mistake proofing techniques can drive
defects out of products and processes and
substantially improve quality and reliability.
Mistake proofing involves innovative
thinking coupled with a solid
understanding of forced control, shutdown,
warning, and sensory alert techniques and
strategies.
Mistake Proofing is best taught through
examples.

Do you still work in batch production?
Pushing your material from workstation to
workstation?
Pull Production means Market-Oriented
Production.
Become ready for the global market.
In business you aim to please. You want
to make a product that is needed. You are
looking to produce something that people
want. But most importantly, you want to
make money from selling what you can
make to as many people as will buy it.
Every product that you make but do not
sell, costs you money. The laws of supply
and demand are such that efficiency
becomes maximized when what is
supplied and what is demanded balance
out.
Originating from the infamous Toyota
Corporation, pull production is a process
that aims to arrange an organization so
that customer preference or orders are
which cause materials to be "pulled"
through a system.
Because your production process are
designed to produce only what is
deliverable your business be-comes
leaner, as result of not holding excessive
stock levels of raw, part-finished, and
finished materials.
Pull systems may not fit to all business
types, because of product types, lead
times and any stock holding arrangements
with customers.
However by having pull systems in some
of your production processes, you will be
able to reduce your lead times, and
associated costs.
The training Pull Production will help you
to understand the benefits and obstacle
and how to implement successfully a Pull
Production.

看板 – Kanban
Literally means “visual card,” “signboard,”
or “billboard.”
Kanban is in everybody's words, but do
you really understand it?
Often in our experience it is understood as
a tool, like in a supermarket, in production
to minimize WIP. It is way more than this.
Kanban is a method for managing work
with an emphasis on just-in-time delivery
while not overloading the team members.
In this approach, the process, from
definition of a task to its delivery to the
customer, is displayed for participants to
see. Team members pull work from a
queue.
Kanban is NOT an inventory control
system. Rather, it is a scheduling system
that tells you:
Ø What to produce.
Ø When to produce it.
Ø How much to produce.
Our training will give you a deep
understanding of Kanban and how to
introduce, implement and use Kanban in
your Production.

Cellular Manufacturing is a model for
workplace design, and has become an
integral part of lean manufacturing
systems. Cellular Manufacturing is based
upon the principals of Group Technology,
which seeks to take full advantage of the
similarity between parts, through
standardization and common processing.
In Functional Manufacturing similar
machines are placed close together (e.g.
lathes, millers, drills etc.). Function-al
layouts are more robust to machine
breakdowns, have common jigs and
fixtures in the same area and supports
high levels of differentiation. In Cellular
Manufacturing systems machines are
grouped together according to the families
of parts produced. The major advantage is
that material flow is significantly improved,
which reduces the distance travelled by
materials, inventory and cumulative lead
times.

If you always do what you have always
done,
you will always get what you have always
gotten.
Teamwork is a term that is commonly
used and often misunderstood. It sounds
good for organizational leaders to say that
they are working as a team or that they
have a team approach.
In reality, most organizations do not know
what teamwork is or how to utilize this
concept. The term is used to create a
sense of cohesiveness. The objective is to
make people feel more comfortable and
have positive experiences being involved
within the organization.
In a non-athletic setting, the word team
has sometimes come to mean a sense of
getting along with each other.
Teambuilding exercises are sometimes
used in an attempt to have people interact
outside of their everyday organizational
roles.
In reality, some of these sessions are
more accurately defined as stress
reduction workshops. These sessions may
also serve as a reminder to relax and not
take work and life so seriously. Although,
reducing stress and striking a balance of
work/life are worthy causes, teambuilding
should not start and stop with utilizing this
approach.
Our training will show you how team
building will and can work out.

  • 2. Training Program 2 Lean Awareness Seminar Build a F1 Racer This introductory Lean seminar enables participants to understand the benefits of Lean for their organization; the key Lean principles, tools and techniques and how to approach implementation. Lean thinking has become a widely adopted improvement approach that can greatly simplify processes and improve performance in both manufacturing and service organizations. Lean recognizes that most of an organization's processes are at best 40% value adding. Effectively applying Lean principles and tools can significantly improve the percentage of value added time; reduce process timescales; and reduce waste and the associated costs. At the same time there will be an improvement in customer service and satisfaction levels. That Lean can keep what it promise will be experienced during the exercise specially developed for this seminar. In four rounds Lean Improvements will be implemented and show how powerful Lean is. Lean extends far beyond its historical roots in the automotive industry and is feasible in almost every manufacturing business. Lean is not a one-off procedure, rather a continuous journey that starts with the customer. Manufacturers who are lean are able to increase their profitability by satisfying the end customer and reducing operational costs. Start to reduce your operating costs by participating in our Lean Awareness Seminar. • 20. Training Program 20 T r a in in g C e l l P r o d u c t i o n Cellular Manufacturing is a model for workplace design, and has become an integral part of lean manufacturing systems. Cellular Manufacturing is based upon the principals of Group Technology, which seeks to take full advantage of the similarity between parts, through standardization and common processing. In Functional Manufacturing similar machines are placed close together (e.g. lathes, millers, drills etc.). Function-al layouts are more robust to machine breakdowns, have common jigs and fixtures in the same area and supports high levels of differentiation. In Cellular Manufacturing systems machines are grouped together according to the families of parts produced. The major advantage is that material flow is significantly improved, which reduces the distance travelled by materials, inventory and cumulative lead times. Content: Ø Facility Design and influencing Factors Ø Criteria for a good layout Ø Conventional Layout versus Lean Layout Ø Flow Line Layout Ø Process Layout Ø Fixed Position Layout Ø Group Technology Layout Ø Hybrid Layout Ø Analysis tools Ø Weighted Distance Method Ø Load Distance Analysis Ø Routing/Travel Ø Layout Planning Questions Ø Strategic Issues Ø Performance Criteria The training includes exercises how to decide the right cell design. • 24. Training Program 24 W o r k s h o p T e a m B u il d in g If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you have always gotten. Teamwork is a term that is commonly used and often misunderstood. It sounds good for organizational leaders to say that they are working as a team or that they have a team approach. In reality, most organizations do not know what teamwork is or how to utilize this concept. The term is used to create a sense of cohesiveness. The objective is to make people feel more comfortable and have positive experiences being involved within the organization. In a non-athletic setting, the word team has sometimes come to mean a sense of getting along with each other. Teambuilding exercises are sometimes used in an attempt to have people interact outside of their everyday organizational roles. In reality, some of these sessions are more accurately defined as stress reduction workshops. These sessions may also serve as a reminder to relax and not take work and life so seriously. Although, reducing stress and striking a balance of work/life are worthy causes, teambuilding should not start and stop with utilizing this approach. Our training will show you how team building will and can work out.
