Follow these simple steps to open MS Word on your personalcomputer:
Start → All Programs → MS Offce → MS Word.
What are theusesof MSWord?
MS Word enables users to do write-ups, create documents, resumes, contracts, etc. This
is one of the most commonly used programs under the Office suite.
How to createan MS Word document?
To create an MS Word doc, follow the steps mentioned above to open MicrosoftWord.
Then once the program is open, click on “File” followedby “New”. This opens a new
doc where something new canbe created.

This has options like font colour, font size, font style, alignment, bullets, line
spacing, etc. All the basic elements which one may need to edit their document is
available under the Home option.
Insert
Tables, shapes, images, charts, graphs, header, footer, page number, etc. can all
be entered in the document. They are included in the “Insert” category.
Design
The template or the design in which you want your document to be created can
be selected under the Design tab. Choosing an appropriate tab will enhance the
appearance of your document.
Page Layout
Under the Page Layout tab comes options like margins, orientation, columns,
lines, indentation, spacing, etc.
References
This tab is the most useful for those who are creating a thesis or writing books or
lengthy documents. Options like citation, footnote, table of contents, caption,
bibliography, etc. can be found under this tab.
Review
Spell check, grammar, Thesaurus, word count, language, translation, comments,
etc. can all be tracked under the review tab. This acts as an advantage for those
who get their documents reviewed on MS Word.

Page LayoutTab-
The page layout tab lets you control the look and feel of your document in
Microsoft word. You can apply a global design to your document by using one of
the available theme and color schemes.

ReferencesTab-
The references tab on Microsoft word’s new ribbon offers a quick way to enter
your document sources, citations and choose a style etc. on the reference tab you
will find things like table of content, footnotes, citations and bibliography, table
of figures, caption, indexes and table of authorities.

MailingsTab-
Mail merge is most often to use to print or email form letters to multiple
recipients. Using mail merge you can easily customize form letters for individual
recipients. Mail merge is also used to create envelope or labels in bulk.
ReviewTab-
The review tab is useful in lot of ways. You can have the spelling and grammer
feature, the research option, thesaurus and translation functionality to help you to
improve your documents.
