These slides are about a civil engineering term which named as grout. It used as finish material. it is related to civil engineering.
I hope you all like it and it will help you.
4. WHAT IS GROUTING ?
The lean mortar used for filling spaces ( SUCH AS JOINTS IN
MASONRY ) any of various other material( SUCH AS MOISTURE OF
CEMENT AND WATER ) used for similar purpose and this process is
known as GROUTING.
-OR-
Grout is generally a mixture of water, cement, and sand and is
employed in pressure GROUTING, embedding rebar in masonry
walls, connecting sections of pre-cast concrete, filling voids, and
sealing joints such as those between tiles
6. WHAT IS CEMENTITIOUS GROUTING ?
Cementitious Grouting is used for grouting materials with a high permeability.
Neat cement and water or a mixture of sand (4 parts) to cement (1 part) is the usual
composition.
It is the most Common Type of Grout used for grouting.
It has further two types;
• Sanded Grouting
• Un-Sanded Grouting
7. TYPES OF CEMENTITIOUS GROUTING
Sanded Grouting:
Cement based grout containing fine sand.
Used for filling wider grout lines.
Which have width 3.0 mm or more.
Un-Sanded Grouting:
Does not contain sand.
Used for filling thinner grout lines
Which have width 1.5 mm to 3.0 mm.
8. WHAT IS EPOXY GROUTING ?
Provides an impermeable layer.
Used in wet areas such as bathrooms.
Having resistance to chemicals and greases.
Used in industrial flooring.
Has high durability.
9. WHAT IS TILE GROUTING ?
Used for tile adhesive.
Used for tile grout.
10. FUNCTIONS OF TILE GROUTING
Fills the spaces between the tiles.
Provides a finishing look of floor or walls.
Holds the tiles in position.
Act as water proofing agent.
Available in different colours to match with shades of tiles.
11. GROUT MATERIALS
Suspensions:
Cement + Water , Clay etc.
Emulsions:
Asphalt or Bitumen with Water.
Solutions:
Homogeneous mixture of two or more materials – Chemical Grout.
