Allison Schottenstein is a member of the Association for Jewish Studies (AJS), which promotes the advancement of Jewish studies at higher learning institutions. In 2013, AJS established a strategic plan to develop and advance its goals for the period between fall 2013 and spring 2016. AJS’ plan identifies three strategic priorities: engaging AJS members, becoming an authoritative source on Jewish studies, and strengthening its infrastructure to increase the success of organizational efforts.
- 3. The group has set seven targeted goals to help it progress towards accomplishing the three larger priorities. The first three of these goals focus on increasing AJS’ membership engagement, and outline various new strategies to enhance involvement: proposed initiatives include devising new digital media strategies, expanding the group's online presence, and the creation of additional professional development opportunities for members.
- 4. Supporting its second priority, AJS’ fourth goal calls for a comprehensive survey of current educational resources. Goals five through seven address the final priority by establishing the need to expand the organization’s personnel and revenue-generating activities. Ultimately, AJS’ strategic goals for the 2013- 2016 period are united in the sense that they all contribute towards its primary mission.
