Pinterest is a virtual pinboard where users can collect and organize links to crafts, recipes, travel destinations and other interests into boards. It has over 70 million users since launching in 2010. Users sign up with an email and password, then create boards to organize their pins on different topics. Pins can be found by searching or browsing other boards and pinned content links back to the original website. Users can follow boards of other pinners to see new pins in their home feed and interact by liking, commenting on or sharing pins with friends.

• The Pinterest team initially tried to sell their

6. Signing Up
• Go to www.pinterest.com
• On the home page, enter your email address
and password to sign up
• Fill out question prompts
7. Navigating Pinterest
• To see your pin boards, click on your name in the
top right corner of the screen
• To Create a new board, click “create a board” in
the light gray box at the left of the screen
• Choose a topic of interest to add as the title, add a
short description, and decide if you’d like to make
the board public (viewable by everyone) or private
(just viewable by you).
9. • Use the search bar at the top of the screen to
type in topics of interest, or click the button to
the right for suggestions
• Click on the image to expand it
• Click again and you will be taken to the orginal
website where the pin appeared
• Like what you see? Pin it!

10. • Boards: A collection of related pins
• If you are very interested in a subject, you can
follow an entire pin board someone else has
created.
• There is no limit to the number of boards you
can follow!
• Updates to the boards you follow are shown
on your Home Feed.

11. • You’ll see the term “Feed” floating around
Pinterest quite a bit.
• Your feed is your “home page” on Pinterest that
you view every time you sign in. Here you’ll see
boards you follow and pins from your Pinterest
friends.
• If you ever want to navigate back to your feed,
click the red Pinterest in the middle of the top of
the screen.

12. Adding Pinterest to Your Browser
• Pinning around the web is easy when you add Pinterest to
your web browser
• Go to https://about.pinterest.com/en/goodies
• Scroll down to “The Pin It” Button and click Install Now
• Follow on screen prompts
• This will appear in your tool bar next to the search box on
the top right of your screen:

through Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo, or by finding
out their username
• You can also follow pinners that you don’t
know on Pinterest if you like what they’re

• To Like a pin, click the Like gray icon.

to the site so you can share pins directly with
other users.
• To send a message, hover over a pin and click
the arrow button.
• Choose from your Pinterest friends, or send by
email by typing in an email address.
