2. Introduction
I always feel nervous when speaking English.
I feel bad in my mind because I wonder why I can’t speak English
very well.
I never learned the preposition; I cannot learn this bloody language
.
My English is not good enough; I can’t express myself very well.
I need to use English perfectly; I can’t make mistakes in front of my
classmates.
Sometimes I feel stupid, some people look at me, a strange man
speaking English?
3. Framework
Stephen Krashen proposed five main theories about
second language Acquisition: The acquisition-
learning, the natural order, the Monitor, the input and
the Affective Filter hypothesis.
This research will be focus on the fifth main
hypothesis: Affective filter it was first proposed by
Dulay and Burt (1977), and it was incorporated by
Krashen as one of his five input Hypotheses in 1985.
4. The affective filter
. The affective filter is an invisible psychological filter
that can either facilitate or hinder language production
in a second language.
According to the affective filter hypothesis, affect
influences acquisition, but not learning, by facilitating or
preventing comprehensible input from reaching the
language acquisition device.

To highlight the importance of the affective filter in second
language acquisition.
Specific objectives
To describe the factors involved in the affective filter on
second language acquisition
To know how to lower the Affective Filter in the Classroom.
6. Affective factors
Three main factors that determine success in
second-language acquisition are highlighted in
Krashen's review of the literature: high
motivation, self-confidence, and anxiety.
