3. Spanish federation of nutrition, feeding and dietetic societies
Created in 2003:
Aim 1: Bring together all national scientific professional associations and societies;
to be the main interlocutor between the consumer, the public administration and
professionals of all areas of the nutritional sciences, food and dietetics in all its
variants (clinical, scientific and industrial)
Aim 2: To promote knowledge of nutrition and its dissemination as a health tool.
a. Inform and train the consumer about guidelines for carrying appropriate eating
habits that improve their quality and life expectancy
b. To train the professionals of the sciences of the food and nutrition promoting the
scientific exchange.
Aim 3: To create expert committees in the food-nutrition sciences together with
the public administration to meet the needs and / or demands of the company,
consumer and / or administration in the FESNAD labor fields.

a. Consumption of legumes in the Spanish population is
lower than the recommendations (15-18 g/d vs. 25-30 g/d).
b. Consumption in Spain in the mid-twentieth century was
387 g/w. It is currently 59 g/w. Globally, a 50% reduction in
consumption over the past 50 years has been observed.
c. The year 2016 was the international year of legumes.
d. According to FAO: They are one of the most nutritious
foods, their crop is beneficial to climate change, (reducing
greenhouse gases and increasing C uptake), increase soil
fertility, low cost and long agricultural life.
e. They are basic foods in the Mediterranean diet.

15. CONCLUSIONES
FESNAD es una federación Española multidisciplinar que agrupa
sociedades nacionales en todas las ramas científicas de la alimentación
(SEEN, SENPE, ADENYD, SEN, SEEDO, ALCYTA, SEDCA, SEGHNP) .
FESNAD persigue la unión de todas aquellas sociedades-asociaciones
cuyo objetivo básico sea la promoción de la nutrición y las ciencias de la
alimentación de cara a ser un interlocutor entre la empresa.
agroalimentaria, la administración pública y el consumidor. SOCIEDADES
AFINES.
FESNAD persigue establecer acuerdos formativos y científicos entre
todos aquellos profesionales ligados al sector agroalimentario.
Fesnad tiene programas bien establecidos para la educación nutricional
para fomenter habitos de vida saludables para toda la ciudadanía
incluyendo grupos poblacionles con necesidades específicas.
